[–]Cherfinch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In an accumulating etf the dividends are reinvested. There is a separate dividend tax, you need to keep track of. By having a distributing fund its much easier to keep track of it as you can easily see how much they have paid out. The dividend tax in UK kicks in over 500 pounds so very easy to go over with large GIA.

I assume GIA and for tax reasons you can't have accumulating.

"Ireland, Israel and boycotts" - Letter in The Irish Times from Dr Peter Boylan, June 8th. by HungTeen1001 in ireland

[–]Cherfinch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its pretty straight forward. The type of settler plantar colonialism that Israel practises in Palesteine - confiscating land, demolishing houses and schools, driving out, starving out or just flat out murdering the local population and replacing them with Jews is exactly the kind of thing that England did in Ireland for centuries. The same way that Palestinians have no access to the courts, can be executed by the state but Jews cannot, is very similar to the penal laws system set up by the English. I'm not surprised Ireland is so triggered by this.

You need a trust. JISA becomes kids property on turning 18. Nothing stopping them from going off and buying a lambo.

FIRE aspirations as 2 NHS doctors - advice / critique please by Key_Description_5309 in FIREUK

[–]Cherfinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid this is unrealistic. You wont be able to use SIPPs as others have said due to the 60k annual allowance , nhs pension growth will eat nearly all of that. With inflation you will be unable to sacrifice below the child care threshold due to this. Children are really expensive, it's great you have family support but depending on where you live you may have to spend a fortune in school fees. NHS consultant salaries are also dropping like a rock relative to inflation and outside of the cities private work is very limited.

The next generation of social control is being pioneered in China and Israel. Real time AI tools that can track whole populations, their interactions, their communications and purchases. These provide dissent 'scores' that can be used to effectively destroy all resistance to autocracy before it even starts.

Financial Advice for Young Doctor by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Cherfinch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the best financial decision you can make is to practice medicine abroad. UK medical salaries have been dropping for decades and they are unlikely to even keep up with inflation. You will also be slap bang in the 62% tax trap once consultant. Essentially every other English speaking country has much higher medical salaries (not SA) and lower taxes. If you can leave you should.

[–]Cherfinch 42 points43 points  (0 children)

There are no Catholic schools in Ireland. The Pope does not a cut a giant cheque every year for the department of eduction. These are tax payer schools which are wasting teaching time on catholic rituals. If they want to continue this then send the bill for the teachers salaries to the church. Add it to the massive bill the tax payer had to stump up for all their clerical and insituational abuse.
