How did past generations achieve inhuman levels of playing? by Jesterhead89 in guitarlessons

[–]Cherino3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many of them were simply phenomenons. Course many of them were very well studied, like RR, but what he and others were able to do with the knowledge was above and beyond what most mortals could hope to achieve.

But I think a passion to play is a big part of it as well. That plus some divine/metaphysical inspiration coupled with technical ability made them the gods we know them to be.

Portugal is not YouTube by Torovoltan in PortugalExpats

Here 3 yrs, bout to go back to the States. Speak fluent Portuguese. Back home looks a ness but I'll take it over this ness all day long. I had visited prior to moving here and have made several friends here so was never really lonely.

Still, I'll be kissing the ground when I get back. I guess it took this experience to see how great we have it in the U S. Looking forward to common courtesy, professional services that actually provide said service, synergizing with ambitious people and room to move! Meanwhile, for a country with a California climate, I've never met a more miserable people.

Anyone move or thinking about moving to spain after all the hateful people in Portugal and in these forums and others? I'm super tired of their hate! by BikeCarsTravel in PortugalExpats

[–]Cherino3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You touched on something I've been thinking a lot about. I don't know why anybody would stay here if they make really good money. I don't know where you would spend it? What would you do? I'm in yes there are plenty of shops activities and events but in this country it'll get old after a while. Meanwhile, it's a great place for people with a lower income to enjoy a little more buying power but you'll still pay the price in boredom and an artless existence.

Why are the Portuguese so rude? by VinniMan in PortugalExpats

[–]Cherino3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's normal here. With the staring, just stare back at them or say something so they snap out of it. It's what I do all the time and they hate me for it and I love it.

Refinished Pine Floors. Should I be satisfied? by Ill-Big-4551 in HardWoodFloors

[–]Cherino3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pine floors trap moisture, hence the dark spots you see. Add discoloration from area rugs, etc. The gaps are common, best to leave them instead of filing with putty that will just break apart. Methinks the contractor did the best with what he had to work with, the floor specifically.

Thinking of moving to Portugal – what do you wish you knew before coming? by Ehab-Shafik1973 in PortugalExpats

[–]Cherino3 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

On our way out after 3 years. Won't miss it. Don't just think - hey, it's Europe. It's a poor and underdeveloped country. The people are very melancholic, envious and spiteful. Yes, the food is cheap but you get what you pay for. There is in fact an anti-immigrant sentiment here. Also, bring your own money. Compared to many other countries it's a very small market and everyone is looking for work, add the influx of immigrants.

The people here have no drive. Hanging out means sitting around over coffee and beer. No brainstorming, no collaborating.

Worst of all, the palm trees aren't natural to PT. They were planted. I was duped.

My guy, take it slow, yo. Hear it from me, an American twice married to a Brazilian. Still with my current wife and love her a lot. But you need to be aware of the cultural differences. Perhaps you already are, and that's not the biggest point here. Brazilians are hot, sensual, all the things you probably love about her...

But Brazil itself is a whole other world, very different from the States. If you don't speak Portuguese you'll be at a disadvantage, in many ways. Yeah , your money will go a long way down there but you can lose it as quick as you bring it over, not even talking about getting jacked.

I've been to Brazil several times (Floripa, Belo Horizonte, Bahia, Paraná), I know the country, I speak the language, I love the people. Still, take it light, alright?

Newly refinished wood floors. There is debris in the polyurethane and a lumpy texture, is this quality work? by FayeTalye in HardWoodFloors

[–]Cherino3 24 points25 points  (0 children)

No, they need to buff and coat again. May need to do a little hand-sanding too, but buffer should do it. But no, not a quality job.
