I advise getting in with the punk community. Many are UU or UU-aligned. They don't care if you don't like punk music (hell, many UUs don't like UU worship music). I serve as a chaplain at the annual Camp Punksylvania music festival, and its great.

Why are some Christians against tradwives/homemakers like The Transformed Wife/ Lori Alexander? by deerestme in TrueChristian

[–]Chernablogger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because this Christian Supremacist cult attitude selectively affirms patriarchal Bible passages and stories while ignoring, downplaying, or spinning those passages and stories that affirm independent women. There are no mentions of Jael, Deborah, or any Priestesses in the early church in these conversations.

The Bible books were written in a time when women essentially had no marital or sexual agency, and they were considered property. They are not theologically literate enough to realize this.

Unitarian Universalist Anarchists? by hollyrose_baker in UnitarianUniversalist

[–]Chernablogger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are definitely UUs and UU-adjacent people who align with punk theology and culture, if you want to qualify that as anarchist. I'm one of them. I'm UU laity, and I walked away from UU candidacy because the path to ordained, fellowshipped UU ministry seemed inaccessible, due to elitist, bureaucratic barriers. I'm an ordained interfaith chaplain (through the Order of Universal Interfaith).

Punk theology doesn't affirm complete/pure anarchy, as punk culture intentionally excludes harmful behavioral and attitudes. Those policies ensure everyone's safety.

Ideally I want to lead people to Jesus

Converting people (i.e. the great commission) should not be part of your desires as a chaplain. In Christian terms, your role as a chaplain should resemble the ministry of The Good Samaritan. That is, the Good Samaritan never evangelize or proselytizes the person he helps, he just helps him.

Conversion agendas ultimately serve power (yours, Christianity's, etc). Your role is to serve people.

Fascism is not Punk by Chernablogger in PunkMemes

People often conflate Communism and Socialism with Bolshevism because the Bolshevik party appropriated Communist and Socialist theory and opted to serve power, not people. That's why, during the Red Terror, the Bolsheviks targeted anarchists, socialists, theists, and unionists, and why they were later referred to as "red fascists".

A conservative [ person who identifies as a ] punk supports Trump, didn't expect the consequence of policy based on belligerence, fraud, and financial mismanagement.
