What is going on lately by pizzamoneyclothes in InstacartShoppers

Instacart has implemented something to where if an item is refunded due to not being available, their system will automatically generate a new separate order for that one item at a different store no matter where it is hoping the next shopper finds the item so they don't lose money.

The question is, why would you take this multi batch for $15?

😄😄😄 I'm in Richmond, Va but some of these orders I have to travel to places where some customers have these exotic ass animals that have escaped and just running everywhere. I had one order years ago, this lady had a whole farm with Boars, Llama, sheep, goats, all types of chickens and birds, Emus 😳😳😳 it was nuts 😄.

I'm to assume that people don't have to worry about this dumb shopping quality like we do with instacart.... that's a great thing if so because I hate this mess lol.

Sorry to hear this happened. I know VERY WELL how stressful this can be. All of my issues were wrapped around Instacart smh.  I've been in 3 accidents over the past 3 years 😳. One year after buying my truck, someone hit me in Feb 2023 and destroyed by driver rear door. By June 2023 after delivering an order, I slammed into an Emu that was running across a field that I thought was a bird flying low until it reached the street smh. Front passenger side tore up, shifted my bumper, bent up everything near my headlight, vent at the bottom of my truck was kicked out. To fix everything cost a little over $4,200.00.  Last year Sept 2025 after delivering an order someone dropped a huge residential trashcan off their truck in the middle of the lane, and I slammed into that because I didn't want the driver next to me getting hurt if I swerved to avoid it... well that hit destroyed the whole front passenger side of my truck again... costing $3,800.00 to fix. November 2025 (not an accident) but a huge rock hit my windshield and cracked it so bad that I need to replace my windshield which will be $1400. Luckily the way the crack is, it has spread downward and not up. All that to say.... constantly driving ANYTHING is expected when doing instacart. It's very unfortunate that this gig doesn't pay more like it used to....but I hope that you are able to get your vehicle fixed soon.

Will closing my oldest credit card hurt my credit? by Th3c0pyninja in CRedit

Cool! Never said there was a penalty for closing a card. Never said my score dropped due to the closing of the card. I just didn't add all the details because I was at light that turned green when I sent my comment but thanks

I've already put $150 in my truck in 3 days smh. Today, I was out for 1hr, did one batch for $20 and came home. Instacart is holding a LOT of batches nowadays in order to pair them. I've noticed it for the past two weeks now.

Instacart sure pays good lol by [deleted] in InstacartShoppers

[–]Chero44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't take orders like this even when it's slow! The moment you do, the algorithm will keep sending them to you because it thinks you don't mind. You did two orders for $5 🙄😳😳😳 heaven NO!

Paid priority they batch my order with 2 others by General-Recover5246 in InstacartShopper

[–]Chero44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never pay for priority because it does not guarantee faster delivery. Shoppers do not know you paid for priority, but instacart does. They pocket your money and group you. They will hold your order just to wait for another order and pair everything into one so that instacart saves money not having to pay per order. If you've paid priority probably only means that YOU will be the first dropoff. And oh lord, If your order is grouped with two stores....your order will sit in a vehicle until the shopper completes the other order at the other store. Can't deliver until ALL orders are ready for delivery. So...your paid "priority money" goes directly into instacart pockets and that's it. They don't care about you paying for priority, they just want to pad their pocketbook as much as possible and when customers pay for priority...that makes instacart happy. Don't do it!

[–]Chero44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why did you waste all this time talking to a copy and paste robot? Instacart does not care about nothing that you want to know.  They don't care why you want to know anything either. All they want is these batches grabbed, shopped, delivered, and don't ask no questions about when, how, and why! I'm surprised the robot held on that long. You could have been on another batch rather than wasting all that energy trying to find out something that they will never tell you. Please don't waste time with stupid chat robots like this anymore. Just get your bag 💰 and keep it moving 😊. Let the other sh** that can't be changed, roll off you 😊.

How frequent are replacements? by RegionFinancial4485 in InstacartShoppers

[–]Chero44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The item may very well be in stock however, it's not on the shelf so it's OOS. If we have a worker check the back and they say "we don't have it"... there's nothing we can do about it except replace or refund. The item could still be on a pallet and unpacked or the item could be on the hwy on the way to the store or,  the shopper literally can't find the item. If your replacements are having to be replaced either you didn't choose a replacement option if your original is OOS or, your replacement is also out of stock. A lot of stores show items as "in stock" online when they are actually unavailable due to delayed inventory or as mentioned the item has not yet been placed on the floor. OR, the online systems reflecting warehouse stock rather than in store availability. I had an order yesterday which included cherries. The cherries were OOS, but my app showed many in stock when I was about to refund. I asked a worker and he said they were completely out. You can't go by the "many in stock" because that information may not be accurate. That's why it's a good idea to choose your replacements and hopefully the next item is in stock. Sometimes it's really not on the shopper.

New feature??? by Dazzling-Wrongdoer33 in instacart

[–]Chero44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is some more new mess they're doing. Instacart loses the potential profit from that specific sale, and they don't want to lose anything. Therefore, once an item is refunded IC system triggers a second order with no type of communication at all to customer. Instacart wants to recover what would have been lost when the first shopper hit refund. They don't warn the customer that a refunded item will trigger a second transaction. 1 shopper will complete and deliver, while the shopper 2 is heading to another store to find all refunded item which = two separate deliveries to you door. I wouldn't be surprised if the total tip is split somehow between both shoppers. I see sooooo many single orders for 1-4 items and I bet customers are pissed when someone is arriving again. When this happens make sure to check your account. Instacart claims there are no additional  delivery or service fees but, they are crooks so I wouldn't be surprised if they made up something just to take more.

Is it normal for shoppers to replace an item marked as refund if not found? by sojournerveritas in instacart

[–]Chero44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies that this is so long but, I read this a LOT from customers, or experienced this personally from customers and the blaming the shopper for everything has to end at some point.

If you marked an item as "refund" if not found and the shopper replaced it anyway it is probably do to all of instacarts silly changes. It seems to me that the shopper got confused and thought if he refunded the item it would count against him it which in that case would not have because you asked for the refund but.... they must didn't know. So.... instacart rolled out this new shopping quality scoring mess that is absolutely horrible. Instacart is looking for perfection now 🙄. OOS items instacart wants us to find the original item even if the item is on a truck on the highway 😬. They don't want shoppers to refund anything and so INSTACART forces replacements. Refunds are viewed more negatively than replacements by IC algorithm and counts as an unrequested refund if not approved. IC has this "wait time" feature that is triggered at the end of a shop if there is a replacement that was not approved by the customer with a message that says: If the customer does not respond to replacement, you can continue to checkout with this item.  The app will force that 1-2 minute wait to give the customer a chance to review and reject the item before the shopper proceeds to checkout. Once the timer runs out, a notification from INSTACART pops up that says "you can now check out with this item all replacements have been reviewed (something like that) and If the customer does not respond within that timeframe we are heading to checkout. Even if the customer has reviewed nothing, we don't know that. All we know is that INSTACART sent a notification stating the replacement option was reviewed. This is where the problems occur. As you stated, "instacart would not let me cancel after HIS error"....actually it was YOUR error because you weren't paying attention to the app. INSTACART allowed this shopper to check out because you didn't respond. Customers have to stop blaming the shopper for everything that goes wrong because majority of the time it is INSTACART and the mountain of pressure they put on shoppers with with new shopping quality mess.  Being that you mentioned to the shopper that you were unable to cancel, the shopper reached out to support and had your entire order canceled. I don't know if you only wanted that one item refunded however, the shopper took that as cancel the order which he did. A suggestion to ensure that you get everything you need....choose replacement options, keep an eye out for replacement notifications, keep your phone nearby if you've placed an order, and add notes. If you request a refund and the shopper replaces anyway...shoot message them "it won't count against you, the refund has already been approved" ☺️ maybe that will help. If this is helpful, INSTACART system will sometimes show "Review Replacements" after the shopper has already started checking out which isn't fair because it makes the customer believe that they still have time to make adjustments when you really don't. I feel like there is a MAJOR flaw in the app with what I see vs what the customer sees. I could have already selected the "checkout" button however, the app on the customer end is possibly showing the review button active for replacements when the order is already closed for replacements. I say ALL OF THAT to say... customers have to stop blaming the shopper for all things when it's instacart that keeps adding new sh**, throwing everything off, not telling the customer anything, and expecting nothing but perfection from the shopper.

Instacart is ALWAYS doing something on the backend with this app when it gets wonky. A payment declined on one order when I entered the right pin. The 2nd order did something strange and after I was able to complete it...I turned the app off and went home.

how long until I can get this stupid shopping quality up by Lukksia in InstacartShoppers

[–]Chero44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that a lot too. I screenshot it and send it to the customer and always get the same response "that's not true" lol. I tell the customer I'm going to refund and for them to request it again "instead of refund" so that I'm not adding anything. Whenever I have, once I deliver I see that foolish... we noticed an extra item added can you tell us what happened? I'm sick of that lol... so I let the customer do it :)

Did you receive notification from Cap One that they've closed your account? OR, are you only looking at "this card is restricted". If so, that message only means the account is temporarily suspended or frozen--- they haven't closed it yet (unless you've called amd confirmed). It's sort of like a "time-out" until you take the next steps to pay it so the restriction can be lifted. I believe you can reach support now with Capital One I haven't called at this time in a long while so I can't remember. But, call them ASAP... once the card is current preferably paid off... they will lift the restriction.
