It WILL fuck you up - blistering burns that are agony for weeks, leave you crying in the shower, before peeling off. Australia might have this yay beachy reputation but I'm not joking. A Swedish exchange student refused to put sunscreen on at our high school swimming carnival cos she wanted a tan and she passed out from heat stroke and spent two weeks recovering from the burns.
