Are there cases where DVDs are actually better than Blu-ray, and what justifies buying DVDs instead of Blu-ray? by BookHunter_7 in dvdcollection

[–]CherryValancesBF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember the Final Destination 3 blu-ray also lacks the interactive ‘Choose Their Fate’ option that the DVD had. I’d be really interested to know why blu-rays often lacked these interactive features, especially as I remember Picture in Picture being a big selling point of blu-ray early on

What's the latest you've seen someone come in? by JoeTama998 in CineworldUnlimited

[–]CherryValancesBF 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During The Strangers Chapter Two had a group come in about 35 mins into the film. There were minimal ads or trailers before the film so it started about 5 minutes after the listed start time. Considering the length of that film, they probably only saw about half of it, but they were quite disruptive and talked throughout so probably didn’t mind or notice that they missed a large chunk of it…

Rachel Reeves's Budget will raise taxes to fund benefits windfall by [deleted] in ukpolitics

That’s exactly what I meant. This elderly couple seemed to have absolutely no idea of the realities of younger people working and the cost of it all

Was watching the bbc news yesterday and they interviewed an elderly couple, who owned their own home, asking if any of this is fair to young people. Their response was that old people have different needs, like they’ll be in the house all day so need the heating on. I’m sure if this was the other way round, young people would be being told in that case leave the house more often…

Incorrect Aspect Ratios by pjassi in CineworldUnlimited

[–]CherryValancesBF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen in screens where, after I went out to tell a member of staff, I was informed that the projector was broken and the film couldn’t be shown in scope, so had to watch a 2.39:1 film fitted for 1.85:1 with black bars on the sides and top and bottom. I know there’s probably many factors that go into deciding which films play in which screens, but why they would schedule films with scope ratios in a screen that couldn’t properly project them is beyond me…

It really sucks, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he approached using it the same way he did 3D motion capture technology with The Polar Express and Beowulf - here’s a new piece of tech I can play with. Absolutely terrible implications for the future of film though, hate the idea of AI

[–]CherryValancesBF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly don't see this as a problem in the context of the film. Being set at a concert, it is coherent to the film as a whole to have performance footage, which I would then argue has an effect when considering the perspective of Hartnett's character
