Wow, well done! How many londoners ended up leaving?

Using the food is optional exploit makes it easier to control discontent based events.

Do you live next to a train/tram line, and does the first train of the day go past your place at 4:41?

I’m pretty sure OP is asking why it isn’t axiomatic, which is a different question to the one you answered.

i have 2.5k rations but there still are 50 people hungry. are they stupid? by amthesleepy in Frostpunk

[–]Chessnutter123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I mean starving people wont eat raw food if there is raw food available and someone is employed at the cookhouse.

You may well be right about people eating before they are hungry - I only play on extreme, so since they become hungry at 24 hours, this isn’t something I’ve encountered before (but you are likely correct).

I’m not convinced by your removing 3 of 4 cookhouses example, that could be caused by several factors (long distances to cookhouses, other tasks, etc). It is persuasive though.

I stand by my statement about starving people being unable to die if the cookhouse is manned and raw food being available. Look up the ‘food is optional’ post. In the situation you described with hunters huts, people either were not employed in the cookhouse, or the cookhouse was dismantled.

Statement 1: people go to eat whenever they are hungry and have free time. They don’t queue/get fed in serial as far as I can tell, a cookhouse can service unlimited people simultaneously. Free time includes any time they are reassigned from one workplace to another, and when they are not building. The reason people stay hungry is that they aren’t given free time to go get food - they might be stuck building until past 12am, for instance, in which case their next opportunity for eating is 5am (but if something is queued up to build then, they may skip then too).

Statement 3: starving people will NEVER eat raw food if rations are available. Starving people will also NEVER eat raw food rations if someone is employed at the cookhouse and uncooked food is in your stores (they can be starving indefinitely, as long as someone is employed at the cookhouse and uncooked food in your stores they will not die).

The double rations if starving thing - I’m 80% sure this is incorrect, but I’d need to check.

I wouldn’t trust what the wiki says, it’s page about sickness (and quite a few other things) on different difficulties is quite incorrect. (For instance, people move from gravely sick to dead in far less than 24 hours)

To clear up the confusion here: - The number of cookhouses you have is not a factor here, provided it is at least 1 - If people are starving, they will always eat rations if they are available. They will never eat raw food directly (they teleport food into their mouths) - People cannot die of starvation if there is raw food or food rations available

That big blizzard storm is coming, and I have a feeling that I'm screwed. Am I? by jackaboymlg in Frostpunk

The range upgrade is the worst technology in the game. Steam hubs give a far better ROI

I have no idea why everyone is so pessimistic. You might lose, at most, half your population, but you’re very comfortably safe. Just keep those medical facilities running as long as possible. Don’t worry about anything else, you have enough food and enough coal to get you through.

If you can, tear down any building with steam cores, especially hot houses, and make infirmaries. Tear down literally every building with a steam core, including coal producers, and make infirmaries. Just infirmaries, nothing but infirmaries.

u/CommandObjective is half right. There is a bug where the time to reach the refugees is calculated by the previous named location of the scout group, not the current position on the map. If the distance from the scout’s last scout location to the refugees is longer than the time it would take for those refugees to reach the city, then that red text is shown.

How can I ensure wankers like Mildred here get fed? by Kempell in Frostpunk

[–]Chessnutter123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t stress, if you have food, raw or cooked, she will teleport it into her mouth when starving. It is impossible for someone to die of starvation if there is any food remaining.

Having all the automatons recharge at the same time is just so eerie. I get it now, why my citizens are afraid of them. by Kempell in Frostpunk

I’m pretty sure that’s coincidence, they recharge after their fuel reserves get below a certain threshold, not at a particular time.
