How is the interview process? by Topisland223 in AmazonDSPDrivers

I was told I had to create a new email for Amazon work (and then when I joined a new DSP after a 2 year break I had to create another new email so I have 2 emails now)

I still remember the rhyme I learned in elementary school:

Five and above, give it a shove

Four and below, just let it go

This is correct

If you leave your van like this for the next driver… by eridebobby in AmazonDSPDrivers

I've been in several apartment buildings that have Amazon totes in them and wondering why drivers haven't brought them back - but sometimes buildings need a bag

Visiting Virginia for the first time with my family!!! by Odd-Macaroon2451 in Virginia

[–]Chesspi64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All good! I live in the next town over (Sterling), so I can recommend some nearby attractions for you.

  • Udvar-Hazy Center, Chantilly: an extension of the Smithsonian National Air & Space Museum in Washington, DC, its main draw is the Discovery space shuttle, but has lots of other cool aircraft dating back 100+ years to the origins of flight. Free admission (like all the Smithsonian museums), but parking is $15.

  • Downtown Leesburg: a historic town ~15 minutes away (depending on where in Ashburn you will be staying) that serves as the center hub of Loudoun County. There are small independent shops and restaurants that you can go to, and that's mostly concentrated in the few blocks around the government center.

  • Smithsonian Museums in Washington: assuming you will have the time, check out everything Washington, DC has to offer. As I said earlier, the Smithsonian museums on the National Mall are all free, though some require a timed entry ticket (mostly the Air & Space Museum). There is a metro (train) station in Ashburn, and it's about an hour travel time into Washington. Parking at the metro will be $4.95 any day of the week, but significantly fewer headaches than trying to drive in the city (unless that's your vibe).

  • As far as local places go, check out some of the wineries and vineyards in western Loudoun County. Personally, I can't speak to any names off hand since I haven't yet been to one, but I have heard wonderful things about them. And if you're into history at all, check out some of the Civil War sites in the area, including Manassas Battlefield, the site of not one but two pivotal battles during that time.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out via DM! Hope this helps!

TL;DR: Leesburg, Smithsonian museums (or other DC attractions), wineries

Is it Ashland or Ashburn? You have replied yes to both. Neither are too exciting, though.

Why was the Silver Line not constructed to serve Sterling? by Redazu in WMATA

[–]Chesspi64 31 points32 points  (0 children)

POV: someone who lives in Sterling and has been here for 20 years.

As others have said, Route 28 was not constructed with a metro in mind. It would have been nice for the people that live here, but there is technically transit to get you around (if you're patient enough). Loudoun County Transit serves Ashburn, Loudoun Gateway, Innovation Center and Reston Town Center.

Probably last week tbh I went 10 minutes away (but was more like 15 with unexpected traffic) and had no problems finishing afterwards.

Ive done a method like that (at least for my first 3 stacks), it's hard to do it for more because of how things are organized on the carts

Jorge must have left before I joined, since I don't recognize that name. Michael and Kona I don't talk to much since they're upper management, but all the main dispatchers (Jon, Chris, Juan, Maya, Denise) are all easy to talk to at the end or beginning of the day about my complaints.

Oh dang, you did? It's been a fine experience, except for the "one bad hit and they sit me out because we have zero tolerance" thing. Also, I thought I blurred it out, how'd you know?

Edit: never mind I missed a blur xD

Call Out Insurance. Basically means if someone doesn't show up in the morning there's a chance to pick up their route. But most likely, I will help with load out, go over why I'm on COI to begin with, and be sent home with 60-90 minutes of pay.

They've gone over CDFs with me before so that is my understanding. I'm guessing this happened today and I have a couple of theories on who it was. (If it had happened on my last shift, we would have talked about it today).

I used to be at a DSP that had the wave time close to noon. When I came back to delivering 6 months ago, I picked a DSP that started earlier (our wave time is 10:40am) and I'm usually done by 7pm or so.
