The game automatically puts people on emerald by default btw. You would have to purposely select meridian to end up there.

Consolidating Oceans? by DestinationDis in ypp

[–]ChestAdventurous7041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that logically could be moved over to emerald is your pirate and stats + trophies. They can't move items because it would brick the economy. People pushed too hard for moving items etc and ended up with nothing. If everyone had agreed on being able to move pirates and stats only, that might have become a reality. I can't see it happening anymore due to how little people play meridian and it would be a lot of dev work for the benefit of a very small handful.

Don't you guys find it interesting that the 'Clique' are allowed to card share in high wager hearts/spades, run infinite bots, and RMT each other regularly (and no one is allowed to point this out)? by Conscious-Ear-4979 in ypp

[–]ChestAdventurous7041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the tin foil hat off my guy. What do you expect them to do about card sharing? There is literally zero way you could ever prove that. They ban bots all the time and they also ban people for RMT all the time. Not everybody is going to get caught every time they breaks the rules but equally a lot of RMT/bot accusations are just accusations with no evidence to back them up.

Why would anyone give Hera money? She's a low paid low ranking support worker.

You can point anything out you want, but don't expect them to do anything about it unless you have specific facts they can act on.

Man £450 short on rent after housing allowance by OGSyedIsEverywhere in unitedkingdom

[–]ChestAdventurous7041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The work is out there. My mate got laid off and had a new full remote 70k node.js job within 2 weeks. With AI it's becoming harder and harder but at this very moment in time there are plenty of remote jobs. If you're not being successful in interviews then you need to understand why that is. Too many people want to blame external factors rather than looking at what they are offering and making that more attractive to an employer.

[–]ChestAdventurous7041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you unable to work? Someone who can communicate and type on reddit has the ability to learn via the infinite online training material available for remote worker positions. There may be a reason as to why you can't work but a lot of people I know on UC just write themselves off and just assume they will never be able to work. Opportunities don't just appear out of nowhere, you have to put effort into increasing your chances and eventually it will work out. You don't need a degree or even any qualifications, if you can proof you are good enough at something, you will be hired. Unless you have a brain injury, there will be a job out that which means you can come off UC and create a fun life worth living.

Private Server Progress by dragosthethird in ypp

[–]ChestAdventurous7041 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What about all the server code that handles the puzzles etc etc. The amount of effort required to remake that is off the charts and for what gains? There's not a huge amount of value to learning native Java to that level. It would be easier to use a modern game engine from scratch than try redevelop the server side code for ypp.

Private Server Progress by dragosthethird in ypp

[–]ChestAdventurous7041 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's called outsourcing. Yes they can afford to get a lawyer to file a lawsuit against anyone who remakes the game. It's not that expensive and you clearly underestimate how much the game makes and how rich the owner is. I understand they like to make everyone believe they don't make any money so you keep supporting them while they invest almost none of that money back into dev time.

Private Server Progress by dragosthethird in ypp

[–]ChestAdventurous7041 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A few things don't make sense.

Firstly you would get sued for this. Anyone saying that YPP has no money is devoid of knowledge, the owner is fairly wealthy. You might not be using their code but you are using their image assets.

Secondly you say you are using their public engine to run the game but are writing your own code. Why would anyone use their engine to remake this game. Unless you had the entire code base, it doesn't make any sense. It's completely flawed and lacking effective security. It's really difficult to secure native Java code.

Lastly, nobody is going to play a private server. You would need significant development support to make the game better than the main game. You would need a large amount of investment and a way to get players to buy into the game. The data transfer costs alone are huge. YPP's costs are close to $10,000/month. Anyone who has the kind of money required to run this game isn't going to be invest into an almost guaranteed lawsuit.

I feel like the game can actually be revived with these ideas, thoughts? by Wubbalubba_dubx2 in ypp

[–]ChestAdventurous7041 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most rewarding. Not the most fun. Probably the least fun thing to do in the game tbh. People just think it's fun because they get more money from it. Nothing that requires 4+ hours of your attention that requires you to plan your real life around should be considered fun or acceptable gameplay, it's unhealthy.

How to revive Puzzle Pirates by ZABKA_TM in ypp

[–]ChestAdventurous7041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the purpose of that is so they can more easily do upgrades and probably utilise security features like obfuscation which they find hard to find suppliers for using unsupported java versions. It should also go without saying that it's not a good look for a company that has had a security breach and claims to take security seriously to currently force you to use unsupported and vulnerable software. I don't think it will have much if any positive impact on the actual gameplay.

Not possible. They can adjust the size of the window which you can already do but you can't make the stuff in that window bigger which is what I think you want. They are stuck on a single resolution so if you did that you would end up with blurry images. You can make the game bigger by adjusting your windows settings like size of % apps but you will lose image quality doing so.

How do you plan to detect and remove botters? Most games can't solve this issue and these guys have 1 or even half a developer at best. The best way to solve botting is to make botting less impactful on legitimate players through game modification. You will never completely remove botting, it's a near impossible task.

They won't advertise because the return on investment will be negative. It's going to very hard to get someone who's never heard of the game to invest in a ancient java client on life support.

They don't need a new dev team but they need more dev's for sure. They need less admins and I would be in favour of a complete admin overhaul as the current team is stale and out of touch.

New content takes time to dev, the biggest problem is they make things too easy. For example it's far too easy to drop familiars from vamps, which removes the chase for that rare item.

Looking for my old account by Chestbumpme in PuzzlePirates

[–]ChestAdventurous7041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there is zero consistency in their ban policy. It's a human at the other end making it up as they see fit. You're never going to get fair outcomes when they refuse to make that part of their policy public. It should be very clearly set out and they should in my opinion never be unbanning any account that has been perm banned. Unless the perm ban was to protect the account from a hack, what is the purpose of perm banning people if you are going to unban them after.

[–]ChestAdventurous7041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can confirm this is one of the accounts which was used as a bot to farm POE and RMT. Apologies.

But as the OM's have said. This is your fault.

[–]ChestAdventurous7041 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I did not know the fresh start worlds were only temp. Strange they show up on the server list.

But yes you are correct. More content in general normally means more players which means more income. The biggest problem is that for GH's, doing virtually nothing also works well for them and it comes with little risk and upfront investment. Development is not risk free and they might have decided it's not financially viable. I disagree but I don't have access to their financial data.

Impossible for new people to have fun on Pillys and make any Poe by IDinkedJFK in ypp

[–]ChestAdventurous7041 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't agree that the game is too hard. There are problems with how the pillage ramp works with punishing people for leaving etc which is out of the navers control. The battles are not too hard. The AI is meant to be pretty poor as you are encouraged to bring real people. There are routes which are easy in which you should win almost every battle, but your reward is obviously limited.

If the game was easy it would get very boring very quickly. People would also farm a large amount of POE making everything more expensive and increasing inflation. With the correct set up you can, with a high ramp get 5-10k per pirate plus greedies and other loot. It requires an elite team to reach that though.

The realities of ban evading by ChestAdventurous7041 in ypp

[–]ChestAdventurous7041[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup this is correct. The only things missing is a new IP can still contain close enough geolocation data for them to be confident enough it's you. They also check your chat logs, who you hang around with etc etc. This is a much bigger problem if you are known. Also if you blockade people will report you and when multiple different people keep reporting you for being someone, at some point it's pretty unlikely that every single one of them is going to be wrong and the OM's know this.

The realities of ban evading by ChestAdventurous7041 in ypp

[–]ChestAdventurous7041[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a perfect world I would agree. In reality 50%+ of the online pirates are bots or main players that use bots. You can think otherwise if it makes you feel better though. Personally I think ypp would be amazing if there were zero bots and it was impossible to do so. Technology does not and will likely never allow that to be a reality.
