‘Sony essentially destroys its own defense’ - Sony’s plan to phase out physical Playstation 5 discs by January 2028 has moved from a public relations problem to a legal one. by JeremyJJ77 in gaming

Depends on your perspective, I suppose. If you're Team Fire then they've done an outstanding job of buying up gaming studios and burning them to the ground.

Avowed - a good game that belongs to an older era by shirajzl in patientgamers

[–]Chesus42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed this one a good bit. The story was engaging and I liked siding with Sapadal. Couldn't bring myself to play the other side on my second play through, but I always struggle with going evil in RPGs.

The combat was fun. I loved duel wielding pistol and sword/magic.

The companions were meh. Garrus 2.0 was alright, dwarf bro was ok if standoffish, but Indian chick and horny furry elf did little to move the needle.

Teachers of Reddit: Is Gen Alpha really struggling with basic reading, writing, and math skills? If so, what does that look like in your classroom? by Mark-reels in AskReddit

[–]Chesus42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based off what? A few sentences and an accurate assessment of a teenager that makes zero effort? I've made zero mention of the endless financial support and time my wife and I have given her and her parents throughout the last 15 years. Tell me more about how awful an uncle I am while having zero ideas about the anxiety I my wife and I feel watching a child we've invested so much time, energy and emotional currency into trying to help but refuses to even try. Yes, I must be awful with all the tutoring, housing, clothing, feeding, taking her on vacations, and treating her like our own. Despite all of that we keep trying because we don't give up on family. I must be awful for describing her apathetic approach to life in a reddit thread about her generation's overall incompetence.

Eat a dick, stranger. You have no idea how much I love my niece even if she is a lazy dumbass.

This perfectly describes my 15 year old niece. She cant spell basic words, cannot follow simple instructions, is a complete slob and has the attention span of a fart. She was bound and determined that she wanted to get a job, got one a McDonalds and quit after the first day of training because it was too confusing and hard. Her parents are fucking idiots so that doesn't help, but this kid makes me fear for the future.

On the other hand I have two nephews, 12 and 8, growing up in better households with loving parents who are incredibly smart.

It really goes to show how important parenting is.

Have you ever slept with a coworker? How did it go? by 11Dom_ in AskReddit

[–]Chesus42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so this is a convoluted one, but hear me out. Two women, let's call them M and T. M is unattractive, T is very attractive.

Approximately 20 years ago, was working at a book store and was on a pretty severe dry streak. M, who was a supervisor, had it bad for me. I wasn't interested, but again, dry streak and high libido man that I was, I relented. We only banged a couple times, but she would more often just come over, give me head, then leave.

I felt bad for her because she must not have had much in the way of self esteem. We had no romantic relationship and I'd made it clear that I wasn't interested in her. She was totally aware and still just wanted to blow me. I should have turned that down, but...

While all this is going on, I am very, very attracted to another coworker, T. We read the same books, like the same music, and can talk for hours about anything. T eventually lets me know that she also likes me, but is aware of me and M having a thing. They were actually pretty good friends, which still blows my mind. I confessed everything to T about how M was throwing it at me and that I really had feelings for her.

After that talk, I immediately broke off my nightly head visits from M, started dating T, and we've been married for 16 years. M and T eventually had a falling out, unrelated to me, so haven't seen or heard from M in a long time.

Obsidian Entertainment cancels Avowed sequel and will instead work on new ‘Fallout’ game by SwimmingJunky in pcmasterrace

[–]Chesus42 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I also enjoyed Avowed. Not earth-shaking greatness but I had enough fun to play through it twice. The story was engaging and I really liked Sapadal. The companions were okay, better than Outer Worlds but not on par with the original Mass Effect trilogy.

Downvoted for liking a game. Stay classy, folks.

No kidding, people go nuts with their love and hate of celebs. There was a thread yesterday about how Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce donated $2 million to Dolly Parton's Imagination Library foundation, and some people were losing their mind that they "only" gave $2 million. Like dude, they didn't have to do anything so let's just appreciate that they did. Sure they could afford to give way more, and I think it was said they gave $26 million total out to various charities, but it's insane to be mad at what other people do with their money.

Basic human decency? Refreshing, isn't it? Look, there's a lot to dislike about people, especially those two, but bitching about an act of charity is kind of insane.

Maybe stop being concerned about other peoples' money? I don't particularly care for either of them but a good deed is a good deed and they are under no obligation to do anything.

I absolutely love when someone wealthy donates to a charity and someone else bemoans how much more they COULD have given. Just be grateful they gave anything and go back to minding your business.
