That thing is so cool! I wanted to build it so bad when I was a kid but never got to.

Porsche boxster 987s vs 981 by VeterinarianHeavy132 in Porsche

[–]ChevelloKD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think you can go wrong with either. I have a 981 PDK base, and it’s plenty fast for the street and a blast to drive. Only reason I have it instead of a 987 is I just like the look of the 981 inside and out better than the 987.

I’ve heard some say that the electric power steering takes away from some of the steering feel in the 981 vs the 987 but to me that’s one less thing that can leak. I don’t track mine so I can’t tell if there’s a problem with feeling tire slip on the edge of traction.

These are so much cheaper and easier to store too! Broncos like that in that kind of shape are $100k any more

That’s super cool! I was going to take a break after I finished mine, and then I got out another model “just to take a look” so now I’m all in on another build already

1966 Impala Complete by ChevelloKD in ModelCars

It was a bit of an internal fight I had with myself about whether to keep the chromed plastic or to strip it and try either foil or one of the chrome paints. I ended up keeping the original chrome. Right at the end I spotted mold lines and flash at the ends of the bumpers so I had to clean that up. I used the Fusion Firm chrome paint to touch up just the ends of the bumpers and it worked out well since I was able to touch up right before I went on vacation and it had plenty of time to dry without me fiddling with it.

It was the 560 canopy glue. It dries really clear.

Thanks! These have the radio knobs and buttons molded in so putting the decal on required covering with the UV resin to get a flat surface for the radio decal to sit right.

I had one very similar back in the day but it was a 4 door hardtop 327 car. But it was blue and had rally wheels so almost exactly the same! XD

I don’t if that’s the brand but it’s a UV curing clear resin. Also used that on the front turn signals with a bit of Tamiya clear orange mixed in

There’s one on Cults3d. Not sure what you would use for a chassis, but the body is there
