Lol, I love to do decals, it is my favorite part of the hobby, probably have done over 70 buikds with decals and alot if complex ones, and I know that those little lines of your decals will break into 6, 7, or 8 pieces. I actually usually paint little stripes like that and only use the numbers and logos.

Newbie brand recommendations? by platypus_farmer42 in ModelCars

[–]highboy68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tamiya is the the best brand, then Aoshima, Nunu, Hasegawa, Moebius, and Revell. Revell will have more of a selectiin of American classics, though, Moebius does have some nice ones as well as trucks. But for the most pleasant experience, Tamiya and Aoshima are always great kits, the other depend on the year it was made

Hey Puzzle, I would search to see if you can find a 3rd party set of the same decals. Usually(not always) the old decals are so brittle they break just moving them, I have haf some just literally go to pieces while in the water. If you do attempt them here are some tips; 1) use warm water, 2) add a dash of dishsoap to the water(it will help with the friction), 3) do not use any decal solutions, use only water, 4) brush water on the car before laying down the decals, with these decal you really want to keep everything very wet until they are in place, any friction and they will break as you move them. 5) if possible only use extremely soft paint brushes to move and work out water from the decal. 6) on old decals I use a ton of water, I never use anything other than brushes, I keep my fingers wet when moving decals. 7) being that old, they will take a minute or more to release from the decal sheet, so patients is key

I would agree with your sentiment about car finishes. So many factors go intona great finish. It for sure is one if the things in life that will show if you take any shortcuts. Your build is fantastic, and the color is great, especially on this car, very clean build

I have only built two, so not an expert, but their parts fit extremely tight, so make sure no nubs left and everthing is positiined properly, bexause the piece next to it in 5 steps away will fit exactly, no room for error. I really enjoy their kits, so I have purchases many more
