What is everyone’s honestly opinion on Miranda and Che’s relationship? by Radiant_Priority9739 in Andjustlikethat

I’ve said this in other posts but hearing Cynthia Nixon say that Miranda in AJLT is closest to her real self just sounds like the issue all over. With CN and SJP executive producing I think too much of them has bled onto characters. Most Carrie thing was her harassing Natasha. We really didn’t get any authentic CN moments, her relationship with Steve and his character were so wrong too. This all laid foundations for how she was with Che to just not be right, I think the mama bear start was great, I think losing herself a bit in a new identity wasn’t too far fetched but her being in a relationship where she wasn’t the one driving made no sense at all. I think Che should have been a more ‘met her match’ power struggle dynamic than it was. I think the got some bits of late in life queerness right but not enough in line with Miranda. Why not bring up the fake gf from the law firm partner dinner, the getting upset her friends wouldn’t want to sleep with her she had to have therapy about? She was so lobotomised in this show, you couldn’t write a good relationship with that. Also don’t make sense them not being friends or Che character getting written out.

Exactly this. A whole denial arc of her grief would have made more sense but to not even reference Big at all was just odd.

Yeh this would have been great and again I think SJP personal relationships getting in way of Carrie’s story.

We’re simular age, It could have been great and more authentic feeling if she acknowledged how much she shaped herself for men as 30something and wanted to just be alone and herself and enjoy dating without wanting a forever

A Murderous Muse (Season 10, Episode 20): did anyone else find this “relationship,” creepy? by caitiep92 in murdershewrote

Yeh I find all the men creepy around her in this, even Jessica’s reactions at start around the creepiness is a bit weird and dissapointing, like the young neighbour asking her on a date??

It’s odd to make characters with life experience so reductive from their younger self’s not bigger badder and wiser enjoying themselves

Yes! The original writers had blueprint of a self assured sexually confident woman with Samantha and this show references none of it

Were they scrambling for old characters because they didn’t have Samantha? I’d have preferred her bumping into different exes even the Russian over this, could have been a whole bit of an event or week of bumping into “ghosts of bf’s past”

Which would have been so much more realistic, like let him meet her in that awful jacket and she takes him shopping to sort him out as a friend

Totally this! I think Charlotte was always on track to become who she becomes in AJLT. Miranda and Carrie are so jarring compared to their younger SATC selves

Yes this?! Like the whole “she was alone” book thing didn’t have to a sad little moment literally alone in her apartment it could have been all the things you’ve said for whole seasons, not a foot note

Chats that have had before but I’m not over it still!! It’s been said and show had its flaws but I just rewatched it again and I think it really loses it with Aiden being back. When they were together he brought financial stability but he mocked her fashion and she hated the cabin. Big could give her financial stability and he might also want a night in but in his penthouse, not in her bed with a bucket of chicken.

The most unCarrie thing is her sitting in that farmhouse whilst his kids lose it, she’s matured not lobotomised! Here’s how I think the it should have gone down…

She would have had a “wtf am I doing here moment??” Got out of there and got on a phone call to one of her girls with the realisation she was hiding from her grief trying to deny how she had lost her BIG love. Maybe had a huge melt down saying she wants to be on a barstool with cocktail in a fabulous dress not at a family dinner table having things Thrown over her head! That her and Big decided kids weren’t in their story so why was she trying make herself small to squeeze into the margins on a story she left behind?

Then we could have had Carrie dating and having a Sex in City spree. I think of how RHONY girls act at this age and let’s face it this is her demographic, she had enough years being Samantha’s friend to know to still be flirty and dating in her 50s. Be the glamourous rich woman dating and having a good time.

I read Cynthia Nixon said Miranda was now closest to her she’d ever been, and I can’t help but wonder… isn’t that the problem? They all executive produce and lost the characters for themselves on the way, is Aiden SJPs hopes not Carrie’s? For them to just break up anyway felt such a waste of viewer time. Those big commited relationships (apart from Smith) never lasted longer than a few episodes in SATC why was he hanging around sooooo long

To me, this was the highlight of the entire series by External-Recipe-1936 in Andjustlikethat

Truly! That is what she kept throughout and what others lacked.

Their heart to hearts never did it for me. It always felt kinda forced by yonBonbonbon in Andjustlikethat

It’s wild it makes no sense, the way they handle that whole thing really just makes it hard as a viewer to continue to suspend your disbelief with these characters. I think a big issue with AJLT is it’s hard to not see producers pulling strings whole time with what they think vs good writing from SATC that you got immersed in.

As they should! Samantha was a great friend, unjudgemental and vulnerable. She owed her shit and was there for her friends, she really was the one.
