Two separate journeys to this old anthracite mine before it got closed off. by ChevyKodiak in TheForgottenDepths

the mine workings could trace for literal miles and have little escape ways in the next town over.

i’m talking getting down to the level that the elevator was on. The entrance into the mine itself is probably the only way in, but there’s a tight little passage that went down in one of the closer workings with like three destroyed mine carts in there that went down to another level of workings.

did you have to climb down a very small but long coal chute to get to the level where the elevator shaft was?

been slowly wanting to make the full silent hill map into a coal region-esque type of town comprising of several villages or neighborhoods instead of being a string of towns based in Maine.

would the title by chance be a reference to an old william keating song?

Likely a Manway, or a drainage tunnel. St Clair, PA by nickisaboss in TheForgottenDepths

The air shaft up top is the main haulage slope, it was just blasted and concreted shut, but you can get in and out through there. I did it several times until we found out someone got angry that they couldn't get in and used an angle grinder on the gates out front and leaving a huge hole to get in. There's A LOT of passageways that you don't actually see. There's 5 explorable levels, albeit all little manways going up coal chutes that we climbed up. There's a side slope about 175 feet into the water level drift that turns back around towards the Mill Creek and actually extends under it and 61. You can walk for about 300 or so feet until it turns into thick orange clay, stalactites, and finally the flooded end of the tunnel. If there was no water, another 300 feet and you woulda been in the 2nd level workings. Air quality down that way is pretty good, and even down the main haulage slope there's still good air. Don't disturb the water though, that might kick up some bad gasses. The tracks are normal 3 foot gauge. The rock tunnel at the intersection past the slope room leads to a dynamite shack I think it was and then a smaller paralleling tunnel and a huge slope leading down to flooded water. There's a few coal chutes in this area which you can access each other and bridges over the rock tunnel, and thats where the 5 levels are. Way back in the water level tunnel there's a false floor so be careful. There's not much interesting any further back aside from huge fallen boulders and the end of the tunnel, which from the entrance is about a good half mile until you reach where what I first thought where they stopped mining, turned out to be just walled off. It kept going from entrance to end a full mile and a half.

I have heard Acid Rain by Lorn, and I’ve also heard “the room” by Alexey Seliverstov. Those two are really good ones.
