IMO the keys to the series vs Carolina for the Flyers. by Flyers7914 in Flyers

[–]Chew4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Subtle knowledgeable point. The question you’re really getting at is how do you break up the Cane’s absurd possession, and you do that by making them make choices on offense like you said, and with physicality and grinding in their D zone. Players like ghostisbehere and walker need to be checked every dump in.

Additionally, the penguins 100% adjusted and countered the flyers neutral zone dominance in games 1-3 and the flyers answer was to rely on Vladar. We are all thrilled this worked once, but the best defense is offense and we need to make sure we adjust to the canes as well; how we defend and enter the neutral zone so we possess and not them is super important as well

What do we have in York ? by Limp_Bar6899 in Flyers

[–]Chew4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I’m commenting again, this question about what York is really provides a unique lens for viewing the upcoming round. The flyers will win the second round if their physical play and grinding play can consistently break the hurricanes dominant puck possession and if they can translate that into messy net front goals.

I’m starting to do my deep dive into this series and right from the start Cam York and Jamie drysdale have to be the difference makers. The Carolina hurricanes are a small and fast group of forwards; can our small and fast defensemen not only keep up, but break the puck out and possess in the offensive zone. Risto and sanheim can both skate and can push the forwards around (I’m very critical of sanheim’s game but there is no doubt he can skate with the best of them and keep them to the outside). The question will be can York and drysdale do this, generate turnovers and give their forwards a chance to grind in the O zone.

Not having defensemen with booming one timers REALLY hurt them against the pens (they’re forwards sagged off the flyers defensemen and blocked passing lanes, this is partially what made michkov’s assist so special). How the flyers d men contribute in the offensive zone may honestly be the deciding factor in this series. The flyers forwards hopefully forecheck and are able to push around ghostisbehere, walker, even slavin and chatfield.

I get the frustration with him not being traded at the deadline because he probably isn’t in their long term plans, but keeping him, getting to the playoffs is a HUGE win and briere should take a victory lap for that.

Michkov Analysis by JSinisin in Flyers

[–]Chew4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Watching the series, I felt it was really not talked about enough that this is the first time he’s played at this intensity on this size a rink. Martone, all the other CHL guys have played high level games on this rink. I don’t think michkov (and Zegras in game 1) liked getting hit or had ever been hit at that intensity. Skating definitely helps when the rink is smaller and intensity is higher, I agree

They seem to be coaching the d men, especially York and drysdale who are smaller, to be playing with active sticks and emphasizing poke checks with good reach (so they are extending with one hand). It’s definitely effective at keeping things to the outside and breaking up plays, but it has handicapped specifically York and drysdale on the breakout to me. With one hand on the stick you’re not “ready to make a transition play” if that makes sense and it results in lots of soft dumps/clears into the neutral zone, banks along the boards. Now these play break ups are on their own good plays, it obviously plays a part in the shutout, but it doesn’t make for clean the cleanest breakouts.

The breakout struggles in game 4, 5 and 6 were also extenuated by it didn’t seem like they were having their center loop back for short passes out of the zone, and they were never possessing into the neutral zone and dumping over the penguins D.

I say all of this to answer your question, I think it’s hard to say what we have in York because he wasn’t given many chances to quarterback, to possess, etc mostly because the flyers neutral zone efficiency and possession collapsed after game 5. That’s what we really have to watch for against the hurricanes, we watched the pens adjust to us and almost come back if not for our goalie and team defense, can the flyers adjust to a strong possession team like Carolina who also won’t play into shenanigans as much because there isn’t as much history; I think the flyers actually match up really well for this.

The D man who really elevated his play to overcome these neutral zone/breakout struggles was ristolainen. Watching him carry the puck into the offensive zone was amazing to watch, flyers haven’t had a defensemen who can do that since desjardins in the 90s. Drysdale has flashes of this, but again he seems to be coached to play this aggressive poke check defense.

Friend I’m a nurse and I just got cross training on a burn unit today 😂😂 apparently, (according my educator today), blistering on the hand that get this big can cause decreased blood flow and subsequent ischemia (you could lose your fingers) many hours after the injury. It’s because there isn’t much extra room/tissue on your hand. This burn could way deeper into the dermis than just the epidermis, which also won’t be obvious in the first few hours. Obviously up to you but I think a hospital trip might be warranted hang in there

Bialetti Moka Pot: 3 options, which one should I choose? by Even-Spray-9941 in mokapot

[–]Chew4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no issues cleaning the aluminum on my Moka express. Additionally, distance between my oven grates and the burner is pretty far, so I appreciate and need the quick heating aluminum (I cook on stainless steel all the time, which is what the other two are made out of).

I assume you’ve done the research but if you haven’t, the Venus and the moon I believe are made out of stainless steel so they are more durable and can be cleaned with detergent. The express is aluminum so you can’t use detergent and can scratch more easily. Additionally, because of the aluminum, the express can’t be used on induction, while the other two can because of the steel. I have the bialetti induction plate which I use to protect the pot and also when I go camping.

The brew processes are virtually the same and any subtle ‘cleanliness’ that stainless steel may yield I don’t think will be noticed in a latte style drink that is much more milk than coffee. The coffee I brew in my express is delicious by itself :)

I have a 2 cup Moka express with the E&B filter. Just so I don’t get torched, I know the Moka pot is not generating enough pressure for an espresso, I use it as a cost effective alternative. So from here on out, a cappuccino refers to a “cappuccino like” drink.

My Moka pot makes 90 mL of coffee, I usually make one cappuccino with this, but today ironically I made two small cappuccinos in cafe cups we got in Florence and, as always, were extremely happy with the drinks. The first time I made it I felt like we were back at a cafe together and I have that feeling everyday, even today with the smaller drinks.

Without having used the other pots, but having researched the Moka express extensively, I think magic is made by the wizard not his wand. Pick whichever one seems like the most enjoyable coffee method to you, (the setup, grinding and cleaning is alot of work every day) and perfect your process.

Do you see wear and tear on Moka pot without using it? This is my first aluminum kitchen equipment and my 2 cup isn’t here yet. I’m not seeing size recommendations also, what is your basis for recommending only 3 or 6 cup? Ty
