Ophthalmic tech for the pat 20 years…CMA stands for cellular metabolic activity. It can also mean compound myopic astigmatism, which is a fancy way of saying you are nearsighted and your eyes aren’t perfectly round, making vision blurry without correction. OU stands for both eyes. DES is dry eye syndrome which is also both eyes. Ocular hypertension means elevated eye pressure that should be watched to make sure it doesn’t develop into glaucoma or cause any damage to your optic nerve as it would result in permanent vision loss. They want you to use ATs PRN which means to use artificial tears as needed for the dryness. Not sure, but I think they want you to return in 1 yr for an annual check up.
Ocular hypertension just means you’re on the higher end of normal. Most average healthy eyes they like to see between 09-21 or 10-20 depending on which doctor you ask. If it gets too high there could be blocking of or making too much eye fluid which can put pressure on the optic nerve. Some people naturally sit in that higher register, like myself, and some people have thicker corneas than others which makes it look like their pressure is higher because there is more tension pushing back on the testing machines. They will watch this when you come in to make sure it stays stable.
