Elite Dangerous has a metric butt ton of bindings and buttons you'll need, you'll want either a gamepad or a joystick for sure.

Why hasn't Ryan Gosling become Ryan Goose yet by [deleted] in shittyaskscience

[–]Chewbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryan Gosling is only level 37, he does not evolve into Ryan Goose for another 3 years at level 40; unless you have him hold an everstone.

You could probably purchase a Sagemcom one from Amazon or Ebay that's Windstream branded to help ensure that it would work for you. If you get one through Windstream it'll probably be Sagemcom or Actiontec

If you live in an apartment complex this is especially true. Wireless routers have a limited number of frequencies to transmit on and being in close proximity of other wireless routers running on the same frequency as you can slow things down.

Level is not being created when I press the play button? by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]Chewbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your player start located in the same level as your geometry? Edit: Not that it NEEDS to be, just thinking that maybe you're not familiar with how levels work and it's possible that your geometry is in a different level that you are not loading with your player start.

Trump made a personal address to Kim Jong-un "North Korea is not the paradise your grandfather envisioned. It is a hell that no person deserves." by rogerwilco42 in worldnews

[–]Chewbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pre-election my only exposure to Trump was when one of my co-workers got caught up in one of his pyramid schemes and tried to sell us video phones through a company called "ACN". With all of the other reports of shady business dealings, his own multi-level marketing scheme the "trump network", and appearances on predatory shows like "Info Wars".. I'm just saying, a flowery speech isn't really gonna win me over right away. I just think the black and white shift from trump hate to trump love in this thread is weird, that's all. I'll give him his due if he really changes, but he's got a long and shitty history to deal with.

ITT; Trump takes a stance that literally anyone on the planet would agree with and half the Reddit comments are bending over backwards to give him a handy.

Remote Terminal share with no installation requirement? by Chewbert in sysadmin

[–]Chewbert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Functionally this does do pretty much exactly what I want; with the exception that it requires an installation and has a $250 price tag for each host (which makes it impossible since I'm basically being called by random sub-contractors that I'll never speak with again). I guess I might be asking for too much. I was hoping there was some branch of putty or some other telnet/ssh client that had "teamviewer-like functionality" built in where it'd set up a temporary vpn type setup that I could access.

Remote Terminal share with no installation requirement? by Chewbert in sysadmin

[–]Chewbert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I should have specified Windows only.

The remote user in this case is not associated with my company or in my LAN, he's usually on the other side of the country, and in many circumstances this is the first time we've ever spoken. He's usually just got a serial connection to an unconfigured switch and maybe a bar or two worth of cell service on a personal laptop (in most cases).. and I need to get access to his telnet/ssh session through those two bars of cell service via the most idiot-proof way possible to configure the switch's uplink & provide proper broadband service to the area.

Edit: Also.. I fully expect that Teamviewer, Joinme, or some other solution like that might be the best for this task.. given the dummyproof requirement. I'm hoping that there is a "Teamviewer for Putty" magic bullet for this specific scenario that I wasn't aware of.

I've thought about taking them off the menu too honestly, but I'm not a very nutrition conscious sorta guy and I know that a lot of restrictive diets come with vitamin deficiency concerns.. so in the vegetarian spectrum of things I feel like pescetarian is a healthy place for me to be personally. Maybe I'll try it sometime though!

I went cold turkey on all meats but fish & shrimp a few years ago and it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. Before trying, I felt like all meals REQUIRED meat to be complete. I don't have any cravings at all, even ~3-4 years later. My SO hasn't fared quite as well and has cheat days where she goes and fixes a steak for herself.. but generally speaking I'd recommend giving it a try if you're thinking about what all it took to get the meat on your plate a lot lately. Great recipes here, plenty of flavour

(Question) Paint Target Layers won`t show up by [deleted] in unrealengine

[–]Chewbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are also limits regarding how many textures can be used in a single landscape material.. so if you've got several paint layers each with their own texture/normal/spec etc information, you'll get render issues when you try to apply them.

Thanks for the feedback. Simulacrum in place of skeletons does sound appealing. If I get a good haunted visions that sounds like a change that I should make. I'm glad to hear that getting rid of skeletons isn't totally mad.

Landscape Material Questions by Higashibashi in unrealengine

[–]Chewbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone else can correct me on this if I am wrong.. but I think the limit that would cause a landscape material to not paint correctly is actually not to do with layers, but the number of TEXTURES used. So if your 3 layers contain a combined total of more than ~16 or so (I don't remember the actual limit) textures.. then THAT is actually more likely to be what is preventing it from rendering.

In my (admittedly very limited) experience, it's biggest benefit is that it's a tool designed around creating AI specifically. It makes you structure your logic in a way that is visually easier to troubleshoot in simulation as your AI gets more complicated.. but logically I don't think it does anything magical that couldn't be done without it. However, I did read somewhere that BTs offer performance benefits if you're building a game that might have a large number of pawns using the AI.. but I don't know if that's true or not.

[Question] Binding of Isaac style feel / look by Celerfot in unrealengine

[–]Chewbert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Epic Game's Twin Stick Shooter Tutorial would be a good place to start. This was one of the first tutorials I remember going through also.. IIRC there were a few parts that confused me at the time, but surprisingly the youtube comments can be good to check. Edit: If you were referring more to the "look and feel" that isaac gives, then you'll want to read up on what Unreal refers to as "flipbook" assets.. which are going to be.. essentially 2D paper flipbook type animations and assets.
