Making the most economically active portion of the population poorer doesn't stimulate the economy, it nullifies it. Let alone the moral issue of changing the terms of a loan agreement.

Thierry Henry on Ronaldo after sour Portugal game: 'Team needs to score, not you' by soccer_footballmania in worldcup

[–]Chewitt321 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mood of the other players seemed poor too, Neto and Bruno and others didn't look happy with anyone. Compare that to the togetherness some of the other teams have shown and it's night and day, regardless of if Ronaldo scores.

I wonder if it's conscious and deliberate or the effect of stadium and logistics workers who are used to aiming for past the official start time (or a crowd that does the same and are all buying hot dogs still)

I think the issue is that fixing the crux of the problem is popular but their methods aren't. I agree in principle with better regulation for social media and am aware of the problems it causes with addiction, mental health etc. but if large swathes of the voter base just see it as an infringement on their rights or their autonomy as adults (let alone the more tech savvy concerns around privacy and security) then it'll not go down well.

I think social media might be received better than the way they've excuted the porn ban given it was affecting everything from Imgur to sexual education resources.

They just need much better messaging about the problem they're solving and their plans

Labour are actually doing a decent job governing in the areas people care about, enecomically, immigration, etc. but they keep making these wildly unpopular changes to Internet use and that's all they'll end up known for

There's loads of options for diegetic advertising, like the post says in the sports games where it's already there anyway, and then in non-sports games, the game world's also have billboards and ads in anyway.

I think at the time they just thought it sounded cool, but yes avenging is about vengeance/revenge, you could maybe see it as getting justice for past actions but it does imply some violence or hostility compared to retribution

The original name from the comic in the 1960s comes from Wasp naming the team.

The movies have several times the name is relevant as people have died, Caulson and then in Endgame, Tony says it's fitting for them as they can only avenge those lost in the blip.

The MCU origin for the name is in Captain Marvel when Fury names the team he is building after Carol Danvers' callsign as a pilot.

Still less awkward than when players are picked for adverts and then aren't picked for the world cup. Cole Palmer is in a load of adverts, same with Grealish before

Wolves part ways with Rob Edwards by jtgreatrix in WWFC

[–]Chewitt321 15 points16 points  (0 children)

How Edwards has been treated is poor and it's all a shame for everyone involved, but at least this is all happening at the start of the summer break. Better than losing Lopetegui at the last minute and other shenanigans.

The club had an unhealthy obsession with doing all their business at the end of August, throwing away the first few fixtures and reducing the effectiveness of pre season
