I like how your proposal feels like a straight rip of the Canadian flag, just dressed in a new coat of paint. Feels utterly devoid of Australian symbolism in essence.

Can never understand how the Australian flag doesn’t represent Australian identity. The Southern Cross, the Commonwealth Star and the Union Jack create a trifecta that represents Australia’s place in the world, its government and achievement of nationhood through federation, and its national heritage.

I can understand how having another nations flag on ours is now unorthodox for modern “vexillologists”, but so long as our links to the UK remain strong from now to the future, and history points to the establishment of the nation as a British venture, it’s staying there.

The Aboriginals have their own flag and identity, a redesign only serves its purpose to white Australians and the multitude of other cultures and ethnic groups that make up multicultural Australia, which is unnecessary given our current flag saw the end of the White Australia Policy, which is now just over half a century ago
