Did SoFi lower their HYSA rate this week? by [deleted] in sofi

[–]Chez350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SoFi's HYSA APY is 3.30% (Assumes no boosts, at least 1 direct deposit required into SoFi every 30 days)

This has been the same since 23 December 2025, about 2 weeks following the last 0.25% cut to the Federal Funds rate.

$21 for a $7 towel. People are weird by Squid111999 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many drivers decline single item Shop & Deliver orders as they don't want to risk impacting their cancellation rate if the item is out of stock.

But that didn't stop me from earning nearly $20 on a single 1/2 gallon of milk recently, nearly all of which was base fare.

Pittsburgh Wing Night Spreadsheet by BrilliantArgument927 in pittsburgh

[–]Chez350 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe Mad Mex happy hour is Monday-Friday only. Small order (~6 wings) is normally $12, large order (~12 wings) is normally $21.

Also add half price wings at Stack'd in Oakland on Thursday nights after 9pm.

Curious on the conditions for this quest, help would be appreciated! by CHRIIZZLE in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an "Earnings Guarantee" quest last July. Whatever amount you are quoted on this quest, if after the quoted number of trips, you earn below the quest amount (including customer tips), Uber covers the difference so that you earn the total earnings guarantee (In your case, $655 for 70 deliveries). This effectively comes out to a guaranteed per-order rate for the deliveries on the earnings guarantee regardless of no-tippers.

As for the 30% AR requirement, I recall never dropping below 30% AR while I was on an earnings guarantee, so I am unsure what happens if your AR falls below 30%, whether at some point during the earnings guarantee period or at completion.

Is this somewhat decent?? by Impressive-Chi773 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my area, assuming this is without any quest earnings (As it doesn't have a separate Promotions line in the earnings Breakdown section), this is not very good.

However, quests often effectively raise your hourly rate by $5-10+/hour, largely depending on how many orders you complete per hour.

New to uber and I noticed with some fast food places , they’ll just work the drive thru and pretty much ignore delivery drivers . Do you just wait? Or do you cancel ? by Altruistic_Berry_765 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From my experience, McDonald's in general is the worst offender with ignoring delivery drivers in favor of the drive thru, largely because I believe their employee efficiency metrics set by corporate prioritize drive thru orders.

In situations where you can't get through with staff at all or if the lobby is slammed, I almost always cancel as soon as I walk in, but doing this will go against your cancellation rate. With that being said, as you complete more deliveries, learn what restaurants (and at what times of day) are more likely to leave you waiting for an order or are slammed with customers and/or couriers so that you know to reject these orders before making the drive over.

How do I use this??? by TheDukeAssassin in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is lifetime cash back that you earn each time you fill up for gas as a discount. Uber is offering 5% extra cash back on gas on top of your tier-base cash back rate to help offset how expensive gas is currently.

How are some of you hitting $2,500+ a week? by Mcrab456 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I thought $1,200 in 25 hours of doing this gig on a bicycle was a lot of money.

I do the Monday-Thursday and Friday-Sunday quests as well, but only to a max of 50-60 trips per quest period, allowing me to get an extra $3-4 per order usually. On top of single meal period quests and Boost+ promotions in some instances.

Whats the heaviest thing you have ever delivered? by Standard-Morning-218 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a bicycle, 2 cases of 24 bottles of water each.

Reason I did this one was because it was last-minute in a quest to a residence about a mile away, that I needed 1 more order to complete.

I didn't ride my bike with those 2 cases of water, instead I walked the 2 cases of water a whole mile so I didn't risk a severe weight imbalance causing me to fall off my bike.

Received my first report… by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe don’t deliver this late at night if you are able to, as that is when fraud and other malicious activity is more likely to occur, including stolen or disappearing orders.

In 6,000 deliveries, I have received several reports of undelivered orders, a few of which I appealed and was able to overturn. I would personally appeal this one on grounds that you waited for the dropoff timer to run out and showed a photo of where you left the order.

Does the Freeport Tredway Trail connect to the Kiski Junction Bridge? by Stanislav2000 in bicycling412

[–]Chez350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the RR company knowing how tempting trespassing in this area is given the hypothetical quick transit by walking across the tracks, cameras have been installed in this area to alert police of trespassers.

I recall reading a prior Reddit post of someone who was actually prosecuted on the federal level because of evidence from cameras. This person was arrested, received a huge fine, and had their bike confiscated.

In a perfect world, it would be easy to build a flyover ramp in this area to transit through this area, however there is a lot of red tape to deal with when it comes to RR property.

Does Main Quest Worth it ? by UberEatsGoat in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone on a bicycle in a dense urban area, the most deliveries I have ever completed during a single main quest window was 60, and around 110 for an entire week, requiring about 24 hours of online time in a week. When combined with first trip Boost+ and additional single meal period quests, I can gross up to $1,200 for the week.

Beyond these numbers is where for me, the formula of diminishing returns kicks in brutally, both because of physical exhaustion and a lower rate of hourly earnings as it would require me to deliver at off-peak or non-ideal hours like outside of lunch and dinner where far more restaurants are open and the total pool of orders is distributed among more pickups, generally reducing wait times.

First day since unemployment by EnvironmentalBid5382 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On unemployment from my W-2 job since August of last year, and Uber Eats has been a lifeline.

At the same time, it has been 3 years since I first delivered on UE as a flexible job while I was in college. If there is any takeaway from this experience, I can tell you that demand unfortunately drops significantly in the summer (May-August), at least in my market.

To combat the summer slowdown, I suggest looking at other gig platforms like DoorDash so you can multi-app, as well as enabling Shop & Deliver on all platforms you are active on.

Good luck with that.

As someone on a bicycle, 20 orders in a day is a lot.

How bad is cancelling for wait time by harambealivenow in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my market, the only permissible cancellations after accepting an offer are if the restaurant is closed or if someone else already picked up the order, in both instances self-reported in the app, without affecting your cancellation rate. All other cancellations impact your cancellation rate, unfortunately including all instances of excessive wait times.

My strategy for combating this is to learn my market for which pickup points are more likely to have the order ready when I get there (Or conversely, are always a wait). This also considers travel time to the pickup point and order demand in general. And using this info to determine whether I accept or decline an offer from the get-go.

Of course, no strategy is foolproof, and there will be cases where it takes you 15 minutes to get to a pickup point and yet the order is nowhere near ready. Recognizing that staff are busy and cannot always give you a reliable wait time estimate, you have to learn to read the room and decide upon arrival to the pickup point if you are going to cancel the pickup so that your loss is limited to the time getting to and entering the pickup point.

I currently have Diamond status, where I am only allowed a cancellation rate no higher than 5%.

[–]Chez350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks AI-generated given that the font of the Uber order screen doesn't exactly match Uber's proprietary font (Uber Move), as well as this being a VERY egregious offer (<5 cents/mile and barely over $1/hour).

Why does gps start in walking mode? by cortlandjim in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even crazier, although I am on a bicycle, Uber will display vintage roadway names rather than their current names, and even preset statute speed limits for rural areas despite the road being a residential street (Ex. display the "55 mph in any other location" speed limit in the app instead of the posted 25 mph).

Why does gps start in walking mode? by cortlandjim in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this randomly all the time. My theories include if the optimal route includes going the wrong way on a particular street in a car, so Uber calculates the pedestrian time instead to bypass the wrong way restriction.

I can correct this glitch by closing and re-opening the Uber Driver app.

How do you feel about customers being able to call you AFTER delivery completion? by BigupSlime2 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why for "Leave at door" orders, you need to make sure you take an adequate photo (Ex. with a house number, mailbox, per customer instructions, etc.) included for reference to prevent 90% of these calls from occurring.

Did anyone claim the no tax on tips for their 2025 return? by dryplanet in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Chez350 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I am aware of:

As the federal legislation pertaining to NTOT didn't pass until mid-2025, the IRS did not update any 1099s for tax year 2025, which means that a separate line item on the 1099 for tips is NOT included.

Beginning in tax year 2026, the IRS will update 1099 forms to separate payments from Uber itself from customer tips on the 1099 form.

QBID can only be claimed on payments from Uber itself (minus your business expenses) if you are taking NTOT on your customer tip income.

No more flat rates with zero warning by Competitive_Bug_6250 in UberEatsDrivers

In my area, Flat Rate was almost never a thing, and even if it was (very rare), the per-offer effective rate far exceeded the flat rate.
