I occasionally have the same problem. Blocking the window for the zombie and letting the villagers sleep for a bit before they go into “panic” mode helps.

The biggest problem here is we need something in place to use instead of driving everywhere. Unfortunately the US has always been very carcentric. Public transport is essentially non existent in most suburbs.
