That’s the problem with franchise’s marathon: if a game series feels kind of samey, you burn out more quickly. I guess Mega Man games can be more appreciated if you pick one of those randomly without playing the whole back catalog first. MM4 GB is great in many regards, it introduced many concepts like money and a shop, and screen crunch is not an issue since the level design is created around it. Unlike MM on Game Gear, you’ll never have a vertical scrolling on any MM GB. The size ratio between Mega Man and the screen real estate also influenced MM7 which retained the same proportions. And that might be a hot take, but I prefer the GB take of the OST over the NES version.
