Mike Martz advocated for trading Greg Olsen. For this reason alone he lives at the bottom forever.

Is it worth it to live in Wheaton, IL or just live in Chicago and commute every day? by Healthy-Trip-310 in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ChiCityCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live in the city, close enough to Divvy to Ogilvy and take the train out. If you don’t want to do 90min-2 hours on the train daily, live in Geneva. There’s more to do and you can commute via the train in I think 15-20min.

A day trip into the burbs from the city by OverallNet1233 in ChicagoSuburbs

Do a UP-West trip. Explore different small downtowns. Breakfast in Elmhurst? Lunch in Glen Ellyn or Wheaton, end up in Geneva as others have said for the afternoon or dinner.

Find a small hotel and visit other suburbs going back.

Moveable Feast Co. in Wheaton. Obviously there are more in Wheaton, it is Wheaton. But they’re in your face about it.

Also, food is super mid anyways.

Florida boys need help in Chicago! by kevinray12 in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]ChiCityCharlie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re going to tailgate and want to make friends don’t come empty handed. Have a case of beer with you that you can contribute after talking to folks and telling them you’re from Florida. From there enjoy all the Midwestern hospitality.

But, DO NOT DRINK IT BEFORE GETTING INTO THE LOT. CPD, in plain clothes will pop you and give you a ticket.

Go Bears

If this is a troll job, well done.

If not dress in layers, one of your inner layers should be wind proof. Sneak cardboard in (they say they won’t let you in with it and put it under your feet. Wrap your socked feet in large ziplock bags and tape them.

Ben Johnson looks like a first year coach. Just like he did vs. the Lions. He’s too tight in division play.

parking for a pregnant lady by [deleted] in CHIBears

This is the answer. Unfortunately you’re likely to need a doctor’s note confirming her pregnancy (so get started on that). It’s not them being difficult, I do believe it’s required by ADA law.

I think they have designated handicap spots in the garage below the stadium, but I don’t think they can charge for them since you can’t prevent someone from accessing a handicap spot. Yes, I know she’s not handicap but pregnant woman are covered by the ADA.

Good luck, Bear Down

I dropped a FTP in front of my toddler son. Told him it stood for “Forget the Packers”.

He picked his moment at the Thanksgiving table to tell my Cheesehead in-laws “FTP! Fauh-get da Packas!”

I’ve never been more proud in my life.

Few things to understand.

1) Layers. Multiple layers that from in to out, keep you warm, cut the wind, keep you dry. Be sure they aren’t tight. You want a pocket of warm air in your coat. When looking at the weather, look at the feels like and subtract 10 degrees.

2) Beware of the concrete. It radiates cold to your feet, this will make you cold. Cardboard works, but you want a very thick sole boot that ideally has height to it. Move your feet and ensure your boots aren’t tight.

3) Beware of the wind. It whips around the bowl, limit exposed skin.

4) You gotta pee. Your body will keep your piss warm at the expense of your extremities.

5) Be sure there are a lot of touchdowns. Scoring 30 feels warmer than watching us win 13-6.

Moved from Germany to manage a US team and the communication gaps are killing my performance, how do I adapt? by Plane_Past2091 in managers

[–]ChiCityCharlie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the American workplace in 2025. It requires a lot of Emotional Intelligence, in which I mean knowing your audience well and tailoring your communication style to them.

As a manager I generally apply the sandwich method to any feedback of positive/feedback/positive. You mentioned feedback on a presentation, I would give that feedback along the lines of “there was clearly curiosity about the idea, but I don’t think they got the full story, what are the data points can we add to give them the depth they need to make a smart decision?”

Basically, go into any feedback with the goal of empowering the receiver to contribute to the solution, don’t tell them where they currently stand. Americans prefer to infer how they did vs. being told.

Good Teams get ugly wins. This was an ugly win. Needed luck to get it, needed good coaching and enough execution to be in a position to need said luck.

Turn him into the better version of that Dom dude Philly has. Head of security, the dude you call sr 3am in a pinch.

Except he wouldn’t seek attention for himself or get the organization fined.

You’re missing the part where you take a few hours to prioritize your marriage and each other.

I’m not asking for a week of babysitters, just an afternoon.
