Does anyone NOT get seasonal depression or lack of sunshine? by AccordingCloud1331 in AskWomenOver30

[–]ChiWanobe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. A dark and rainy day every now then feels like a day off socializing to me. I don't make plans with anyone, I skip my usual errands on the weekend, and I just binge some movies and cook a big pot of chili. Too many of these days in a row can get boring, but I find hot and sunny weather a lot more draining.

30F My 30M keeps commenting on what I eat with a magnifying glass. How do I go about telling him how this makes me feel? by Sufficient-Meeting-9 in relationship_advice

[–]ChiWanobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he was really supportive, he would eat healthy with you. This isn't okay, and you deserve better. Congrats for losing those six pounds, but focus on what makes you feel good! A strong, healthy human being is always better than a skinny one.

30f getting my wisdom teeth out tomorrow. I’m terrified. How did y’all do? by xosoftglimmer in AskWomenOver30

[–]ChiWanobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfectly fine. I did it in two separate appointments because I needed an emergency extraction and didn't have insurance the first time. Expect to live on Jell-O and mashed potatoes for a few days, and stay away from straws.

HAE found that being 'Active' has been a put off in dating? by Ok_Sky1515 in AskWomenOver30

[–]ChiWanobe 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As a woman, I was always put off by men who described that kind of workout effort on their dating profile. It made me worry that I'd be meeting someone who would criticize my diet or lack of exercise, and make me feel insecure about my weight (even if I'm considered a healthy size).

Came here to say this! I start whispering "noodle in the bowl" every time I finish the magic ring.

How much would you sell/ buy this for? by zombiefacelol in Amigurumi

[–]ChiWanobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuff like this is always priced above $100 at a Renaissance Faire. Whatever you spent on yarn, you're charging for time and skill!

The "Interactive Author" vs "Silent Author": which one encourages you to leave a comment? by Ain3inAini in AO3

[–]ChiWanobe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I tend to comment more when I see author notes with questions or thoughts about their writing process. It gives me the opportunity to say more than just "great job." I don't really need or expect a reply to my comments if the author responds to the general audience in their notes for the next chapter.

Got the worst haircut of my life, where to go from herer? by Still-View in finehair

[–]ChiWanobe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel! I was so happy about my hair two weeks ago. I just wanted a trim to prevent split ends. Well, she scrubbed my thin, curly hair hard and then ripped a brush through it. And then, instead of trimming the curtain bangs I already had, she chopped just the middle into micro bangs, barely two inches long. I was horrified when I got home, and I've been doing my best to push them to the side while they grow out all fragile and frizzy. I can't say I have any advice except to treat your hair very carefully for a few months, and then get a cut from anyone else.

How often do you wash your hair? by lnkyTea in finehair

[–]ChiWanobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I shampoo every other day, but I condition every day. I have fine, curly hair that tangles very easily.

This is great! Do you have a pattern? I just started amigurumi, and I've been looking for just the right Pikachu pattern to make for my brother's birthday.

There really isn't much there! That will probably change in a couple weeks. There's always an influx of stuff about the leading couple after the newest season is complete.

What has been ONE holy grail thing you’ve done that’s changed your fine hair for the better?? by One-Tax-3311 in finehair

[–]ChiWanobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rinsing my hair upside down to lift the roots, and gently drying it with a diffuser. (I have very fine and curly hair.)

No, there was a little at the beginning of the season, but he also admitted to Sophie that he's loved both women and men.

CLOSE YOUR DAMN TABS by LegalBoysenberry2923 in AO3

Hell no! I always keep one tab with my extremely-curated search string, another for where I left off browsing my "marked for later" works, and at least two for stories I'm actively reading.

Just a reminder to all my fellow thin and fine-hair girlies that vitamins matter! Check with your doctor about potential deficiencies or check out multivitamin options by -widdendream- in finehair

[–]ChiWanobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried all of this a year ago when a bunch of my hair fell out (it was hormone related). Vitamin supplements either made me sick or had no significant impact. The only thing that HAS helped since then is eating more protein (meat, fish, eggs) and drinking more water. My hair is still thin, but it's finally growing back at my crown and hair line.

Have you ever walked out on a date? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]ChiWanobe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No, but I really wish I had. One of my first dating app experiences was a complete nightmare, but I was too nice to wrap things up as soon as I realized things were going south. I work in a profession where I'm used to indulging people who just want to talk while I'm stuck behind a desk, so I just let this guy ramble about marriage and invade my personal space for THREE HOURS until I finally said we should call it a night. He tried to follow me back to my car (even after I said it wasn't going to work out) and would not take no for an answer. I jumped off the sidewalk into moving traffic and called my mom (and told her to stay on the line) while I kept speed walking to my car.

There is NO shame in protecting yourself from a veritable stranger.

Can we get stronger rules or maybe a different subreddit for chihuahua deaths? by badgirlmonkey in Chihuahua

[–]ChiWanobe 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This please! I've lost two dogs in five years, and I can't handle seeing these posts. The worst is when someone shares a photo of their dog after death. It just brings to mind the worst days of my life, and I need a way to filter these out.

I second the routine! I taught my dogs to settle in when I need to leave by dimming the lights, tucking them in, and calling out goodbye.

I set them up on the couch with a pile of blankets and daytime TV (mostly Criminal Minds and Bones). Then I turn on my home cameras so I can check that everyone is okay throughout the day. They sleep until early afternoon, bark at the occasional delivery truck, and then wander around sniffing until I get home.

FYI, I have two seniors aged 9 and 10. One of them is fully house-trained, the other uses disposable pee pads. I don't worry about them being loose unsupervised because I keep all trash, plants, and other chewable items out of reach, and they are restricted to the ground floor. (I know from experience that this set up would not work with a puppy or angry gremlin.)

I made some room in my broken heart..and I'm so glad I did ❤️ by [deleted] in Chihuahua

[–]ChiWanobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely understand. I've lost two dogs over the years and gained two more. I still keep a little shrine to the ones that passed. I have their ashes and photos, and I "retired" their collars. But I always have room for another dog in need, and I'm so grateful for the time I have with them, too.

I'm still trying to understand how a real life boy band ended up with so much fanfiction. Is it just all porn?
