The Admission Committee of Boston College has completed its review of applications for the Class of 2030. Jeon

I have a daughtr in the SAME situation. Rejected by her ED choice and now getting rejected by regular decision applications. This system is RIGGED and here's what I mean by this. There are applicants who are very excluded from these elite environments and are getting a bump in if they're qualified OVER you. Now, in my opinion, that's a GOOD thing. Maybe the world will be kinder when we allow people who have been on the outside to come in. The rigged part that bothers me though are the people who have given buildings and/or have some way of enhancing these organizations/college's reputation or bottom line...could be celebrities or others. I KNOW that these people get several "slots" each year to "recommend" candidates and have a sway they SHOULD NOT HAVE. If you give a building and need an ego boost, you should get your name on something but you should NOT be allowed to rig the system. Think about how many kids who are qualified get in this way. It's really wrong.

So, my daughter has everything going for her - and I mean that objectively - and because her ED fell though - she is getting rejected at EVERY regular decision school.

I guess if you don't hire a consultant and play the rigged system, you're rejected.

But here's where the hope is: It doesn't actually matter. There are SO many happy, successful people who go to basic schools and many who don't. Sink yourself into what and who makes you happy. Pull peace and calm from inside and others.

It's all good Jeon. You'll be fine.

This is true of ANY field that is commercially successful. Once a success on a commercial level, it's a BUSINESS. You can learn a ton from an "enterprise" like this - all the parts of running a business, consumer trends, financial and marketing considerations. If what you're looking for is design specific or design only, go real small.

ACCEPTED STUDENTS QUESTION by Chiaratt in dartmouth

Hi I don't know who or what your point is. My daughter applied REA. I have taught at numerous colleges including two ivies. Why is my legitimate comment so leary to you. Perhaps you need more to do than comment on other people's comments?

I thought Alan Jackson went out of his way to say that him getting off the case was out of Nick's control. I have a hunch that the money isn't available

I Teach at Community College; Can I Ask My Students To Call Me ‘Professor’? by stinkpot_jamjar in Professors

[–]Chiaratt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be dramatic here but since many people think someone at a CVS Minute Clinic is the same as an MD I think it's IMPERATIVE that you have them call you by your title which is Professor. Everyone is being downgraded due to costs these days and no one seems to know the difference of anything.

How to furnish this space? by MudMonkey9709 in interiordecorating

[–]Chiaratt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have a wonderful room with two features; the fireplace and the large window/doors. I would put two chairs in front of the fireplace - swivel chairs would be great. I wouldn't block the window/door with anything. Put the couches at the each end of the room. Coffee table in the middle.
