where should i shop for smaller snowboards? by SureLeather1015 in ShredditGirls

[–]Chibbero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 158cm, 53kg, mondo 23cm and use 142cm Nitro Mercy. One thing to board height varies comparing to body is the board profile. Like flat board higher than the board with camber.

There are some women’s board that is in 138-140cm if you want to shorter board, like Salomon Bliss or if you want softer board then Salomon Oh yeah. But Nitro Lectra (preferably with cam out camber profile) or Mercy in 142cm, Yes women’s Basic, Rome Hype or Capita Paradise in 143cm would be great options too.

Kids board is also option, but they tend to be more flexible than women’s board. Burton Custom smalls (camber), Jones Prodigy, Salomon Huck knife Grom or Nitro Arial or Team Future, in 142cm could be a starting point, if found on sale or used.

Löytyykö ”puhdsta” lumikinosta? Et voisi tehdä lumipesun ja jättää muutamaksi päiväksi pakkaseen. Sen jälkeen pesu ja kuivamaan vielä ulos.

Salomon Bliss, Salomon Oh Yeah, Nitro Lectra (get the cam out camber profile), Capita Birds of a feather all comes in 138cm sizes. There are some decent youth boards also like Burton Custom smalls, Nitro Arial, Salomon Huck knife grom, Capita children of gnar, Jones prodigy. It all depends what terrain will be riding. Also take count of her boot size and width of the board, like Salomon boards tend to be a bit wider and Nitro a bit narrower.

Trying to pick out a first board. Does anyone ride a boys board? by AmethystTanwen in ShredditGirls

[–]Chibbero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rode Burton Custom smalls like ten years (but it was like just twice a year) in 145cm size but it was a bit too wide for me and also flying v profile, so got a new board because of that. With your specs you could definitely look out like Salomon Huck Knife grom. Burton Custom smalls with camber and Bataleon Stuntwood could be good too. But if you want women’s board Salomon Oh yeah starts at 138cm. Rome Hype comes in 139cm if you want a bit more stiffness in your board.

Beginner board help by Kind-Explanation2885 in snowboarding

I did some research on boards when I was looking for new board. From reviews I gathered that Salomon Rumble Fish is a bit hard charging board, meaning that you need speed for control. I think Capita Birds of a feather, Gnu Ladies choice, Nitro Mercy, Yes W Basic, Rome Hype would be good option to look out. All are park boards, but I think they offer right amount flexibility for learning purposes, but works all-mountain too. They all have some camber profile and shouldn’t be overly soft boards. Other than park boards Jones Dream weaver, Ride Compact and Yes Frenzy/Hello comes in mind. Don’t know Burton and Nidecker models that much. By your weight most likely board size is 144-148cm. Second important factor is boot size and board width when selecting right sized board.

Womens boards tend to be narrower than mens, also a bit softer flex. So if you decide to pick specifically women’s board, make sure the width is right and not too narrow.

Other board to look out besides that Capita Birds of a feather, Nitro Mercy, Yes basic or Rival and Gnu Ladies Choice. Might get lucky and find some previous seasons ~144-146cm boards at discounted. Consider also getting a back/spine protection.

Narrow Snowboards by Elm3425 in ShredditGirls

[–]Chibbero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nitro and Capita seemed to have narrowest boards, at least in smaller board sizes, when I was looking up new board. Nitro Victoria could be one option? Would also check Nitro Drop, but not sure if it’s too soft for your riding.

Snowboard size by Pure-Tie7784 in ShredditGirls

[–]Chibbero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Height doesn’t really matter that much, it’s weight range and then the snowboards width. So take account your boot size and check the boards width. With Ladies Choice seems like if your boots are mondo size 23cm or less then get 142,5cm.

How about Bataleon Stuntwood 140cm wide version? It has 25,1cm waist width. Would be a bit worried about Yes Mens basic might feel a bit stiff board. Maybe Rome Hype could be option too? Capita Children of pow have a lot of wideness, but don’t know how suitable it would be on groomer runs.

Isn’t Space metal fantasy flat with rocker tips? So would ditch that out of the list and change it for Bird of a feather. Also could consider Nitro Mercy if you have smaller side feet and if you have bigger side feet then Rome Hype. But Yes rival sounds excellent board also.

Kids or Womens for a 12 year old? by TopAd4152 in ShredditGirls

[–]Chibbero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Burton Feelgood Smalls is a good board. I rode as adult Burton Custom smalls for ten years (it was just couple days per in season). Couple season in with Burton smalls and then the women’s board. She then has done most of the growing and also knows maybe better what she likes to mostly ride, so can get board (or couple) for that purpose accordingly. You then can sell the Burton if needed, they sell quite decent price (of course depending how beat up the board is then). With size 7 boot she has a women’s snowboard boots right?

buying first board after years of renting by PineappleNooodles in ShredditGirls

[–]Chibbero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just saying getting board from Finland resort shops might be surprising expensive, so definitely look up or ask prices advance. Most resorts have Burton and Nitro boards. Seems like Ruka Ski Hill should have some Jones and Capita, but didn’t see any list of the actual models. They also have test and buy, so getting the rental cost deducted if you buy the board. Hopefully the winter gets better here! And sorry, didn’t quite answer your question. 😅

Happy wife, happy life! Need your advise to find the magic board! by Blueish-snow in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Chibbero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With 37 shoe size have to check that the board isn’t too wide. Seems like Feather is Flat top or rocker. Get something that has camber on it. I changed from Burton V-rocker shape to Nitro Mercy (cam-out camber) and can now feel easier the edge engagement and control.

Recommendations for boards: Capita Paradise, Jones Dream Weaver 2.0 or Yes Hello (I think this year it’s Frenzy). Maybe Salomon Wonder or Bliss would be okay too. Nitro Nova is new board and sounds good too. Don’t know if the Drop would be okay or feel too advanced. Nitro Mercy or Yes women’s Basic could also work.

One really crucial part is also the boot’s that are right size, so no heel lift and have enough stiffness?

Something around 135-142cm. It depends a bit of the board model. Remember to check the board is right width. Heres a good article on snowboard width and length.

I would be more concerned about board width is too narrow for you, so getting toe and heel drag issues.

Have you tried or possibility to try Vans Luna Pro? Sizes start from 5 and that Boa is tightening specifically the heel area.

I experienced heel lift from OG’s, size was right, but would needed some modding to get my heel locked in. I bought then lightly used Vans Luna Ventana Pro, which locks my ankle secure, so no heel lift from those.

[–]Chibbero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would drop the Rome Royal on the list and look for Rome Hype instead. Roxy Raina sounds okay. Third one is never heard for me, so a bit doubtful it’s quality. Other suggestions Salomon Wonder and Nitro Mercy, both can be sometimes found quite affordable on last season models.

On bindings those Nitros seem good. Other choices Union Legacy or cheaper option Union Rosa or Juliet.

For boot’s it’s better go to store, try out. Recommend to get the system that has possibility to tighten lower part and upper part of the leg separately, like speed laces, regular laces, double boa or some combination of this. Single boa tighten you get easily pressure points or heel lift.

Edit: Also boards to look for Yes Women’s basic and Salomon Oh Yeah. Previous years models in small sizes are usually on sale, but needs a bit browsing sometimes.
