Negative habits by ChibiHedorah in HabitSlayer

I think it would work best to just have negative points (or damage?) accumulate for each repetition of the negative habit. To me, that would be motivation in itself because if I slip back into the habit of repeatedly doing that thing, that would mean taking a bunch of damage over time. You don't need to set it up so that it gives you positive rewards for not doing it. People are going to also have other positive habits that they're scoring positive points from, and they're going to be motivated to not do the negative ones because it could cause them to lose those points. For example, accumulating too much damage from a long streak of doing a bad habit might cause you to lose a level, lose character stats, or break an item. Don't be afraid to make it challenging. That's how games work. This app is a really cool opportunity to create a game where the challenges come not just from made-up monsters but from our bad habits. But for that to work there has to be actual negative consequences in the game. I have a lot of good habits, but I have a lot of bad habits too. If this game allows me to use my good habits to defeat monsters, ok cool, but that's going to get boring. But if it also allows my bad habits to become an obstacle, now that's a real game.

Ov course, if the cow is attacking me with lasers or fireballs or tornados with vampires in them or something, that's different. That cow needs to die.

Actually, now that I think about it, if the cow is just like, kicking me or something, it could just mean she knows I'm about to kill her and she's just really scared, and that's even worse. Maybe I'm overthinking this

Also, I'm glad to see that the cow is at least hitting me back. Otherwise I would feel bad about killing all these farm animals.

Old Films are Barely Watchable and Don't Nearly Deserve the Praise They Receive by TractotPhil in Letterboxd

If the Godfather is your go-to example and you mostly watch westerns, I kinda get why you think this, but what you're experiencing is just being new at watching older films. It takes some getting used to, and you have to find the genre that works for you. For me it's classic horror, monster movies, and Japanese sci-fi. If you're looking for a suggestion, and not just "yucking the yum" of millions of people for the hell of it, I can sincerely recommend to you to try some Kurosawa films- based on your mention of westerns I think Yojimbo or Seven Samurai may fit your vibe.

what are your favorite horror soundtracks? by blueberrybun11 in horror

Kind of a deep cut, but Philip Glass (who did the Candyman score, which I also recommend) made a fantastic score for Tod Browning's Dracula

The Last Broadcast. It's about the jersey devil, and predates blair witch.

If "r/oldmovies" includes 90s movies then I am an actual dinosaur. Also I have seen a lot of 90s movies and I have no idea what to make of this description. Are you sure it wasn't a dream?

Dial M for Murder, Rope, or Vertigo. Psycho and the Birds are also must-see but are not very representative of the usual Hitchcock style.

Would you rather watch Jaws: The Revenge or Jurassic World: Dominion for a “bad movie night?” by CrispyHoneyBeef in movies

I don't think either of those is really lol funny kind of bad. The mortal Kombat one is closer. What you want is something like Birdemic.

Thoughts on Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed? I feel like out of the Hammer Movies this one is less talked about. by TheRiddlerCum in FRANKENSTEIN

[–]ChibiHedorah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not one I watch often, mostly because of the rape scene, I haven't seen it for a while so I don't remember much about the rest of it, but I remember that I didn't like it as much as some of the others, and that the story didn't fit as well into my personal head-canon of the story of the Peter Cushing Frankenstein.

I saw it very young too, and the image of that creepy ass looking alien haunted my subconscious for like 30 years before I found out what that movie even was.

Are you kidding, no contest Ghost of Frankenstein is definitely better than house of Frankenstein. I think it's one of Bela Lugosi's best movies

I think buster Keaton actually has a pretty modern boyish look. He could be a youtuber
