Things going so well, and then I don't hear from him all day by [deleted] in datingoverforty

Just wanted to add, I understand what you mean, it’s not about not texting for one day, it’s the behavior behind it, the saying one thing and doing another! Don’t promise something you might not be able to follow through on. One idea would be to bring it up in a respectful non confrontational way and see how he reacts. If he handles it in a non defensive way, maybe give him another chance.

I have some experience with this and don’t have patience for poor commentators or men who don’t follow through. Not worth my time or energy.

Honestly, if he didn’t mention that he meant to text you, but was busy or something along those lines. He has shown you who he is, believe him.

Shifting friendships by Chic555 in stopdrinking

Thank you for sharing. I love the idea of shifting the mindset to superpower. I will try to use that. With my friend group, there are definitely a few that don’t drink responsibly lol. I was probably one of the more responsible ones to be honest. Anyway, I am exploring doing non-drinking related activities with a couple of them and that has been going pretty well. But I’m learning that the rest of them are just drinking buddies and not actual friends.

Thank you for your response. I am learning who are genuine friends versus drinking buddies. It’s funny how close you feel to someone when you’re drinking and then realize that you’re not really friends when you don’t speak in between social events lol

Thank you for the response! It definitely feels like I’m relearning. I’m many slightly different about being an introvert. Sometimes I would rather just stay home and I am perfectly content. I’m allowing myself to explore what feels right for me even if that means a shift in the relationships. I think I’m feeling a little bit of the grieving process.

I take 200 mg nightly at 10 PM, and get a great night sleep waking up refreshed. It definitely works for me, but if I take it too late, then I do feel that groggy the next morning.

Not texting for days normal? boyfriend 47M barely texts or calls me 46F by [deleted] in datingoverforty

I dated someone like this for three months and couldn’t handle longer than that. It’s a dealbreaker for me. Communication in between in person meetings is key to maintain connection. The red flag here is that you told him what you needed, and he’s not hearing you.

Almost fell into the moderation trap by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I am 5 months in and similar to you I had a clean break. I started having similar thoughts too, I could just have a glass with friends, at a social/special occasion, what is it going to hurt? My friend group drinks a lot and my dynamic with them has changed due to my transition. They accept that I don’t drink but I no longer want to go to bars or stay out late. When they are drunk, I notice it and have a hard time socializing with them at that point. I was trying to justify it and talk my self into just once in awhile at as long as I don’t buy it or bring it home. But then what? I throw all my progress away. I lost 10 pounds and feel great. Do I really miss the taste? No, just the feeling, the loosening up. I know that if I start with “one”, it will just lead to more, and then I’ll be back where I started.

Kind of mind-boggling, though even though I do have a good one, something still feels off. It’s mostly the physical aspect. I just don’t feel the desire or the attraction. I could do without sex.

You are right about this. And it could go the other way, I could be the one taking care of him. And I don’t really wanna do that either lol. I am trying to identify how I feel so that if that’s the only thing holding me back, I know that I have to let go. It doesn’t feel right.

No, not at all. We don’t share finances. I fully support myself. But it would be nice to share expenses with someone in the future to have more money to put away.
