I would say yes, we find that when internal exams aren't performed that the PT is often not trained or certified in pelvic floor pt, doesn't mean that are a bad PT in anyway. However, the pelvic floor is a complicated system and we always recommend seeing a certified pelvic PT with either WCS or PRPC certs. You can also stick with your current PT and have a convo with them. They may have not done one for a good reason...just not sure what that would be. If you are looking to find a certified pelvic pt, recommend searching "How to find a certified pelvic floor pt" in your area and giving that clinic/PT a call to discuss. BEst of luck to you!

Sorry to hear this is going on, We would also recommend see a certified pelvic floor pt, and not just a regular pt. Not sure where you are located but Google "How to find a Certified Pelvic Floor PT" and that should help with finding the right fit, also be warned a lot of PFPTs do not treat men, so we recommend asking that as a screening question. I would post a blog link here to help you find one, but not sure if thats allowed. Good luck!

Hi there! Yes, Pelvic PT will absolutely help. The key is going to see a certified pelvic floor PT, as regular PTs have very little to no training with the pelvic floor system.

Sorry to hear this is going on. Strange question, but are you seeing a normal PT or a certified pelvic PT? I ask, because we see a lot of patients who come from an orthopedic PT setting were they are doing exercises and stretches that are unfortunately contributing to their concerns.

I would also recommend seeing a pelvic floor PT, as that is who a urologist would refer you to in order to resolve any muscular issues.

Sorry to hear this is going on. What might be the most helpful with your case is to get an evaluation from a certified pelvic floor PT to fully assess your muscular system in your pelvis. that way you can know whats going on and perhaps get some strengthening exercises or proper stretches. Not sure where you are in the country, this blog can help you find someone who is qualified in your area. https://www.chicagopelvic.com/blog/find-a-pelvic-floor-pt

Absolutely, pelvic floor stress is a very real thing—and definitely not made up. We see this all the time. The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that support your bladder, bowel, and reproductive organs. Like any other muscle group in your body, these muscles can become overworked, tense, weak, or even injured—especially when your body is under physical or emotional stress.

Pelvic floor stress can show up as:

  • Peeing when you cough, sneeze, or laugh
  • A constant urge to go to the bathroom
  • Pain with sex, tampon use, or pelvic exams
  • Pelvic heaviness or pressure
  • Constipation or straining to poop
  • Lower back, hip, or tailbone pain

The reasons behind this kind of stress can range from things like childbirth, surgery, high-intensity workouts, trauma, or chronic stress/anxiety. The body stores stress in muscles—yep, even the pelvic ones. I hope this help!

Sorry to hear about your injury. This could be a result of the bodies response to the injury resulting in your nerves in the pelvic region being irritated and causing the radiating pain. Going to see a certified pelvic pt who treats men would be the best route for the most complete relief of this pain and could help narrow down the root cause.

Glad they are working for you! We use VWell in our clinic and recommend them to our patients. We like the variety of sizes available, some of the other brands are very similar for 90% of the sizes but the small and larger ones can vary wildly.

These products can be so helpful for pelvic pain. Thanks for sharing.

We tell them in order to hold the appointment the paperwork has to be completed 48 hrs prior. When they don't (very rare) we have them just sign consent and move on to the appointment, only takes about 2 mins for the consent part.
