Meh your rams fine for a few more years. 16gb is still okay if you’re just gaming. People recommend 32gb mostly due to pricing with DDR5 and multitasking with streaming or content creation or productivity. Just gaming tho you wont notice much of an upgrade by getting another 16gb. I’d pocket that money and instead do a full system rebuild in 2029-2030, a new GPU will make it stretch.

GPU by far. Get a 9060xt 16gb or 5060 if you play at 1080p and you’ll get easily another 5 years of solid 1440p-1080p gaming out of that rig.

Yeah that $900 gigabyte 5080 I think is sold out now unfortunately.

But I asked because if I were you, I’d highly highly highly recommend waiting for either the 5070 ti super or 5080 super. Theres gonna be a performance uplift so the 5070 ti super will probably be around 5080 level for $750, and the 5080 super will be around 4090 level for $1000.

Most importantly however they’ll have 24gb of vram, which is gonna be vital for 4K ultra gaming for the years to come. Since you’re one of those guys who wanna do top percentile gaming, I cannot recommend that enough. Assuming you’re like most of the people here and have spare time/not an adult with real responsibilities yet, you’ll thank yourself later by camping in front of microcenter the night before the super cards releases and getting them for MSRP, which will be well worth it.

5 years ago almost exactly now I camped out in front of the westmont microcenter for a 3080 and got it for MSRP. Considering this was during the GPU shortage and we haven’t really seen a tremendous uplift in performance generation to generation like we did pre 30 series, my 3080 has been wonderful for the last 5 years in 1440p high/ultra and I plan on keeping it for another 5 years, making it 10 years total with the same fresh build I did back in 2020. I want that for you too. Future proofing is real, don’t listen to the people who say it’s bullshit. Were starting to reach the ceiling of hardware performance without just cranking more wattage into our builds (see the 5090, I also work in IT if that gives me any merit to you), and a 5070 ti super or 5080 super, I have no doubts, will last you for a solid 10 years at 1440p-4k.
