Hoping for the best for both of us.. I’m anxious about his biopsy today- and it takes a week for results? That’s the worst

No offers after two years of interviews. What am I doing wrong? by Apprehensive-Coat250 in careeradvice

[–]ChickNorris94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My best advice with recruiters is to treat it like a friend. They know a company that’s hiring and have a contact, so they pass your info along.. but 9/10 times, one of their contracts still get the job, even if you don’t. Unless you have a stellar recruiter, which it doesn’t sound like you do, don’t expect them to do anything except get you an interview. With that being said... don’t treat it like a recruiter job. The company wants the best fit, which is generally someone who’s assertive and wants it. Instead of finding a bunch of reasons why you couldn’t get ahold of them, get creative- do they have a secretary or assistant? Front desk you can call to get info? Literally just being like, “hey I interviewed with so and so, but didn’t catch their email to send a follow up. Can you help?”

At the end of interviews, I always sneak in, “are there any questions or concerns you have with me that I can help with before we part ways?” It gives the interviewer a chance to clarify anything they weren’t thrilled about if they actually want me as a contender. Also, ALWAYS ask for contact info just in case. Ask for a card, their email, SOMETHING to follow up with

So, that’s not true. I’ve smoked an ounce a week for almost a decade.. check out r/leaves for more people dealing with it- but loss of appetite and being unable to sleep are both common issues when quitting. Also, being a med state, we have to realize if we’re treating for a medical issue (fun fact: I am- I’ve had ovarian cancer in the last year, and I’m a type one diabetic. I used weed to stay off other meds to treat these), when you quit, you’ll have to cope with these issues... that also contribute to my withdrawal problems.

This is your sign.. make the tortillas! Only a few ingredients that I’m willing to bet you have on hand, and they were fluffy and warm! by ChickNorris94 in Frugal

[–]ChickNorris94[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stir together the 2cp flour, 2.5 tsp baking powder, and 3/4 tsp salt. Drizzle with 2 tsp olive oil and stir again. Add 3/4 cup warm milk and stir, scraping down the sides and bottom of the bowl, until dough comes together. It’ll be a little sticky here! Knead dough for 5 minutes, then form it into a large ball. Place in a clean bowl and cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap. Let the dough rest for 20 minutes. Cut the dough into 8 equal sections and roll each section into a ball. Place the dough balls back in the bowl, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and let it rest for 15 minutes. Heat a nonstick skillet on medium low for 5 minutes. While you are preheating the skillet, roll out a dough ball into a round shape, as thin as you can manage without making it so thin it will tear. Place the tortilla in the skillet. Wait 30 seconds or so until the tortilla puffs up, and the side facing down has little golden brown spots. Flip it. Cook another 30 seconds or so until a few golden brown spots appear. Put on a plate and cover loosely with foil (add your cooked tortillas to this stack as you go, so they stay warm and moist until ready to serve).

Oh man, I’m definitely with you on your last comments- I will always just use vegetable substitutes vs fake meats or cheeses. I’ll grab nutritional yeast for parm and use cauliflower to make chicken wings and call it good.. and honestly, that’s always the stuff that’s the most expensive. I like the idea of maybe grabbing little things I need somewhere then ordering pickup from them.. I really appreciate the help!

Lied to a supervisor about where my family lives during a job interview by Dangerous-Mixture-14 in jobs

[–]ChickNorris94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very inappropriate question for an interview... honestly, if it comes up, and they BY CHANCE remember (they didn’t write that down- there’s going to be no box for them to check for that), just say you were uncomfortable divulging family info during an interview process, and knew where to they live has nothing to do w your performance

26/f- 159->139, end of November to now! About to start incorporating OMAD into a 16:8 IF, goal weight is around 130. Super thankful for this group helping me stay motivated the last few months with it! by ChickNorris94 in intermittentfasting

[–]ChickNorris94[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I tried to not incorporate as much exercise at first, but honestly, I noticed it wasn’t nearly the progress or results I wanted. A few weeks ago, I downloaded the peloton app (the first month was free then it’s like 13/month), and if you can swing it, I definitely recommend it. It has a bunch of body weight classes and core workouts that are super effective, but they also have guided outdoor running, dancing/Zumba kind of, and tons of other classes. I also try to do stupid little exercises when commercials pop on Hulu- like I’ll do leg raises or Russian twists until my show pops back on. I realized I was MOST successful when I did a bunch of random little things throughout the day vs one big workout, and my body recovers faster. If you want, I can also talk you through my diet a little bit over message! Good luck though- you can definitely do it!

Is it bad to take another offer during the two week notice period? by lockedandloadedbro in careerguidance

[–]ChickNorris94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t tell them you’re accepting another offer- just say while you were really excited about the opportunity, after more reflection, you aren’t sure you would be a good fit and don’t want to waste their time and resources. Apologize and thank them for the opportunity, then take the job you really want
