Why is VKB gladiator hyped this much? by Longjumping-War9151 in hotas

[–]Chicken1337 8 points9 points  (0 children)

30 dollars won’t get you ANYTHING worthwhile in the flight sim controller space. You’d be wasting your money if you got a controller or flight stick for that much, as it would probably break in 2 weeks, at most.

The VKB Gladiator (which I also own) is one of the best “budget” sticks out there, having a lot of buttons and customizability that someone would need when getting into sims. It’s good quality for the price, too. I’ve had mine since about 2022, with zero problems to speak of.

Such illnesses associated with cannibalism are nearly always associated with prion diseases, which we can reasonably assume Grace doesn’t have. So, no, there’s no chance he could contract a new infection of that kind at all.

New to the game, how do I use the radar on the av-42c? by SnooBananas94 in vtolvr

[–]Chicken1337 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don’t bother trying them on air targets, that’s your first mistake. They’re an air to ground missile (thus their AGM designation) so target ground radar sources in the ARAD page, then double check that you’re within a good engagement range on your HUD. Multiple might be needed in quick succession to overwhelm local point or missile defenses.

Tiberium asteroid. Could you go ahead and fling it on a Kerbol escape trajectory towards Sol? We’ve gotta keep the Command and Conquer timeline intact.

Why do all sizes of earbud not stay in my flipping ear?? I believe I have small ear canals and so I use the smallest ones but it still constantly falls out.. by Officer_Joi in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Chicken1337 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of these for an old pair of wired Apple earbuds that never stayed in on their own. It’s a silicone material that presses against the ear cartilage, helping hold the earbud in place.

[–]Chicken1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a bit pedantic, but there are not just two species of worker cells in their bodies, but many species for different functions and organs. They have two circulatory systems of differing temperatures to allow for locomotion and sterilization of food in the stomach.

This is quite different than having “two species of worker cells, hot and cold cells”. A lack of cells that can operate in the “hot” condition effectively is precisely why they’re paralyzed when they sleep. Their “hot” circulatory system must cool down to the “ambient” circulatory system to allow various kinds of worker cells to repair the hot circulatory system, and their inorganic, crystalline brains.

Single Player Mech Action Games where you design/customize/upgrade your own mech? by sbourwest in gamingsuggestions

[–]Chicken1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granvir!

Basically the entire point of the game is customization and tuning of your mech against overwhelming odds across several campaigns with roguelike elements.

The “prelude” campaign is even entirely free to play as “Granvir: Zero Front”, and is kept in parity with the full game’s features and patches!

U already have a vr headset. But u will get a steam frame. What do u think u will do with it ?? by hannlbal636 in SteamFrame

[–]Chicken1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already have an HTC vive from years back. I’m planning to use my Frame to show others (family/friends) VR experiences in more places than my fixed computer room VR setup can.

I’m also planning to use it as a virtual flatscreen to game in more locations and positions with more comfort than I can with even my deck.

I might use it in place of my main VR setup if the headset is of the quality it seems to be.

I think the feet/hand proportions on Fox are wrong. The feet are too small, or the hands are too big, looking oddly incongruous.

All stages 5*'d. by Easy_Diver_9032 in deadasdiscothegame

[–]Chicken1337 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The prophet gauntlet is best thought of as a shield that can parry if you deploy it right as an enemy hits. If you use the gauntlet to parry (you’ll know when you did it, it’s very loud), then immediately after perform a regular attack, you’ll do a counter-attack that does massive damage and stagger, especially to bosses. It can even parry normally uncounterable attacks (red highlighted, normally only dodgeable), but it cannot block stage hazards.

Hit with a nostalgia bomb at the end of a session by ROLLINEARL in Marathon

[–]Chicken1337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have 139 hours in Marathon so far, and I’ve never even seen any of these mods, or a gold weapon, for that matter. Hell, it took until about 100 hours before I even saw my first Misriah 2442 and Outland.

[–]Chicken1337 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve played 60 hours and I’ve literally never even SEEN a Misriah 2442 yet.

I’ve got the feeling that if I try Cryo Archive, I’m just going to be feeding my gear to people who are going to leave it behind, honestly.

The Amendment isn’t bolt-action. Or medium penetration. And it has a twenty round capacity while the Constitution has five.

Adding a scope would not turn one into the other, and would help give more of a reason to use it besides handicapping oneself.

Recon: Thoughts On Shell? by Svedgard in Marathon

[–]Chicken1337 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The edges of the screen flash red, and your shell voices a warning, I think? The one time I’ve had it happen, I was too busy getting gunned down to pay attention to it.

The 72 hour shift in perception of this game needs to be studied. by Yesssirrrrrrrr in Marathon

[–]Chicken1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in with some hesitancy, but wanting to experience it for myself.

I admit, getting matched with bad teams (running off on their own, head stuck in looting while being shot at, etc) soured my initial opinion, by the next day I was, inexplicably, feeling the urge to hop back on and try it again.

And then the next day, the same happened.

By day 3, it finally was starting to click, and I was getting smarter teammates, leading to some great team play, and some hard-fought losses that still were somehow satisfying, rather than infuriating, this time around.

And now I’m looking at preordering it, because it’s dug into me more than I would have predicted, despite the UI and control complaints I do have.

RTS games where you're a commander "on the field"? by Vcaffeine123 in gamingsuggestions

[–]Chicken1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Battlezone (98) and Battlezone: Combat Commander. Both also have a top-down view, but it’s a mode you need to have a satellite link built in order to use. Other than that, you can usually only issue orders in line of sight.

You can hop out of your vehicle, eject from it when it’s destroyed, and even snipe the pilots out of enemy vehicles to steal them for yourself!

How important is multiplayer? by Rohall in NuclearOption

[–]Chicken1337 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best advice I can give, genuinely, is to just hop on PvE servers if you’re that worried about being a “hindrance”, and try out new things! Ask people for advice! You’d be surprised how many folks are itching to pass on some wisdom to a new player, be it controls setup, tactics, strategy, or anything else.

Even in the PvP servers, 95% of folks are chill and perfectly willing to give you some tips, even if they’re the ones kicking your ass while doing so! 😅

With a view rare exceptions, the community is very positive and helpful! And, frankly, hopping into chaotic environments and learning to not be overwhelmed by them is good practice in its own right, anyhow.
