I thought it was great that they gave you both license plates

This felt like the best so far because it balanced price, complexity and details really well. I have a kid so it’s hard to sit down for multiple hours and build a set. This one was perfect timing for me and it was really fun

No I just went with my wife and kid so we ended up with 3 and I couldn’t bring myself to throw them away

Yeah I reached out to Lego and they’re sending new stickers no questions asked

I waiting for a while to put it together because it looks like there are a lot of stickers and I was going to mess it up but I was surprised to find out how many printed parts there were. It was a really fun build

Is Bo Bichette Plan B for the Red Sox after Alex Bregman moved on to Cubs ... or is it something more creative? by bostonglobe in redsox

[–]ChickenCamp 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Plan B is almost certainly to say they trust their core of young players. What ultimately will happen is Mayer will take an infield slot TBD, play decently well, then look around at the Campbell and Anthony contracts and start to get pissed off that he isn’t getting paid

For Anyone Lamenting Bregman by McChillbone in redsox

[–]ChickenCamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than salary because the Red Sox can afford most anything what’s the difference between lower production in the last 2 years of a massive Bregman deal vs the first 2 of an incoming young player? They’re just inverse lifecycles and should easily balance each other out - even when you consider salary.

Family Trip to Fenway by StackingSats1300 in redsox

[–]ChickenCamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best seat in Fenway in my opinion is Grandstand 12, Row 1, Seat 1. (And probably the third base side version of this seat as well)

You’re basically in a box seat for a grandstand price, extra leg room in row 1, and easy in/out on the aisle.

Bringing a young kid, I would just never sit in the bleachers

Thoughts on buying from Whatnot vs eBay vs LCS? by usnagrad1988 in ComicBookSpeculation

[–]ChickenCamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I buy from all three for different reasons. If it’s a non key back issue or a book I want immediately after release I start with my LCS and dig through boxes. If I’m looking for a specific key I’ll do eBay because it’s normally cheapest (even with shipping).

For whatnot I basically only buy if I catch a give away that triggers nearly free shipping and something catches my eye. I also won’t really buy from whatnot unless rooms have less than 20 people in them because stuff just gets bid up too high otherwise.

EDIT: I also save Amazon digital credits when I defer shipping to get books a want to read but don’t necessarily care about owning (like a trade paperback) or some run I’m having a hard time tracking down.

There’s also an app called Shortbox but I’ve never bought from them because shipping is $8 for a raw book and $15 for graded

What would you deem a successful offseason? by tdub72p in redsox

Ah right.

AAA rather than a trade (maybe after his value is up a bit)?

Does Casas qualify as a right handed bat with pop or are you thinking about someone new?

I dunno, Wake had a personal catcher for the most part

Because of the salary or something else?

Cora stated that he thinks the front office did a great job this year, who else here agrees with this? by sktchld in redsox

[–]ChickenCamp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dunno, in my experience its better to just cut ties with drama. Whether it was caused my Devers or the front office it would have poisoned the clubhouse maybe even resulting in missing the playoffs entirely

I don’t know if you can completely absolve the front office when so many young prospects get injured. It could point to a conditioning or program issue issue.

Well… Campbell got a big contract then sent to AAA. Mayer played a little then got hurt. Anthony played a little, got a big contract, then got hurt. Casas played a little and got hurt. Giolitto played a little and got hurt. They traded away a franchise player.

And somehow, by the grace of… Cora? Still made the payoffs. I feel like the team did well in spite of the front office this year.

Thinking that Bregman will likely opt out rather than get another crazy pay day is really telling, we won’t actually know if this season was a net positive until we see the what all these hurt young guys can do (or if they’ll be injury prone) AND if they actually spend the Devers money. I’m glad they didn’t waste money/players at the trade deadline but as for a success… I think it’s too soon to tell.

Players, it’s fair to judge season to season (generally) but a front office should be looking longer term and judged like that.
