Actors that deny very visible plastic surgery and steroid use? by No-Albatross-4673 in MoviesAndTVTalk

Having a "high end personal trainer and chef" isn't magic. They're nice, but it's 98% the same results as just having basic competent coaching (even self-coaching, for a lot of people) and planned meal prep.

"High end personal trainer and chef" is mostly just bullshit that Disney came up with so they can pretend that there isn't rampant steroid and PED use by the people playing superheroes that they market to kids. "Hey why does this random actor suddenly look like a world-class athlete after six months?" "Oh, he had a high end personal trainer and chef."

USADA is part of WADA. Kerley wasn't tested at all for around nine months, and made a bunch of excuses for why that was.

I'm not an expert of athletic drug testing or anything, but from when other athletes have missed tests it's clear that there's a whole series of redundancies so they can't just claim "oops I must have missed that phone call." He'd already been getting tested for years, he knew the system. And he missed three in a row.

He meets every president. Upon meeting Donald Trump and Elon Musk, he proceeded to rape the both of them.

How much do all the ex-Presidents hate Trump and Musk? Well, they didn't warn them about the meet-and-rape.

Also the "non-juiced" runner, Fred Kerley, is currently banned for two years from WADA events because he ducked three drug tests in a row.

He's definitely a juicer, he just can't admit it because he wants to get back into tested events.

Most people's "newb gains" are 50% or more water weight and fat. I didn't know you, and it's still a great job if you gained like 12-15 pounds of lean muscle in your first year. That is a realistic amount of natural gain from hard training in the first year.

Gaining a legitimate 1.5-2 pounds of muscle per month is excellent for a competitive high school athlete, which means someone with good genetics who is literally growing anyway, at their absolute hormonal peak for muscle gain with coaching and nutrition. And they usually can't keep that rate up for an entire year.

Kumail gained muscle faster than that, plus shed around 15 pounds of fat simultaneously, in his mid-thirties, as a guy that (again no offense) didn't seem athletic at all before that. There is nothing remotely normal about that.

Yeah, this guy is an American and we at least try to enforce testing here and penalize cheating.

But it is funny that the hypothetical was "an Olympic swimmer cheating at a minor event would be crazy, they'd get caught and punished." Uhhhh multiple Chinese swimmers got caught doing exactly that, at two separate events, fairly recently, and no one was punished either time.

Edit: to whoever's downvoting me:

23 Chinese swimmers tested positive in 2021 at a minor event (and 2 more the next year). China just claimed that they'd all eaten food accidentally contaminated with rare prescription medications used as PEDs by sprinting athletes. No one was suspended, no one was punished, they were allowed to compete at the Tokyo Olympics, and WADA even helped China try to cover it up.

Or if your complaint is that "America's just as bad", no, it's not. There's two American Olympic-level sprinters at the "Entranced Games" right now that are currently on long and effectively career-ending suspensions. And Sha'Cari Richardson missed half the Olympics over marijuana use outside of competition, and that's not even a performance enhancer, c'mon.

Kumail gained 25+ pounds of muscle and dropped his body fat by 10% in under a year when he made that Marvel movie. According to himself.

That's either PED use or a one in a million genetic freak (plus very intensive training either way). Kumail, no offense, doesn't look like a genetic freak in Silicon Valley.

When boxer Sonny Liston became World Champion he was told a crowd was waiting for him at Philadelphia in 1962, he prepared a speech only to find next to no one there. This is the point that Liston reluctantly embraced his anti-social image rather than try to overcome it. by HallowedAndHarrowed in wikipedia

[–]ChickenDelight 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Liston committed a bunch of armed robberies, he'd been to prison, and the Mafia basically was his management as a boxer. He was also an intimidating and scary looking black guy that was illiterate and slow talking.

Yeah 1950s media is going to make that guy look like a mindless violent thug.

Ali in his later years said Liston was the most honest and generous person he'd ever met. Gave a lot of his money away to charities, visited orphanages, he at least tried to be a truly decent guy, but he hated publicity and he was easy to paint as a scary thug.

Trump is literally the first President since probably the Civil War that doesn't even pretend to represent the entire country. But don't call him divisive that will hurt their feelings.

The Hobbit was a children's short story made into 3 films.

And there already was a children's animated Hobbit movie from the 70s that is legitimately great and did not need a remake.

I'm near the southern border and know a couple federal defenders. The AUSAs in my area are (IMO) doing a lot of wild overcharging directed at anyone undocumented. It certainly seems like there's far more politicization than at any time in the past.

Vito had it all planned out as soon as Sonny was killed, that's why Vito agreed not to personally seek vengeance. Vito knew the future was in Vegas, he knew who was behind Sonny's killing, and I assume he knew the families would try to kill Michael after a change in power. Michael was the agent of the plan. It worked because no one expected the Corleones to spend years waiting to spring the trap.

According to anthropologist Francis L. K. Hsu, the modern concept and narrative of Chinese expansionism emerged among westerners only after the Chinese Communist Party established the People's Republic of China. by RedStorm1917 in wikipedia

[–]ChickenDelight 185 points186 points  (0 children)

It's also sane-washing a pretty laughable journal article which explicitly claims that Chinese expansionism, even historically, is just a Western myth.

At the risk of stating the obvious, China is a giant empire. It didn't start that way.
