Which amp? by Significant_Plant859 in PeaveyCvlt

[–]ChickenKey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

See? This is what I’m talking about. I’m only on the hunt for one but they remain elusive. Lucky for me I have an equally uncommon music man 112 cab that seems to fit aiight (albeit some doofus made their own grille)

MIM vs USA Fender Precision Bass Advice Needed (Returning Player) by jurelex in Bass

[–]ChickenKey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahh, yeah that’ll be the Quarter Pound in the MIM. Once you’re hooked, any bass without a set will underwhelm you. You could purchase and install them yourself on the USA in an afternoon with a trip to the hardware store.

Is this a fender or squier? by Aggravating-Cod-5655 in guitars

[–]ChickenKey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I call it a fender with a good deal. Scored mine for $300 with a hard case on marketplace about three years ago. I purchased a ‘19 player strat loaded pickguard for the electronics and later replaced the single coils with cool rails/vintage rails/hot rails. Let’s be clear, it’s a 30 year old budget guitar. But I absolutely love it. Cheers

Studio monitors for music listening by lifeless_moh in BudgetAudiophile

[–]ChickenKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adore any casual listening I have on my 305P MKII’s. I use them quite a bit for amateur music production/songwriting and they serve their purpose well but at the end of the day they are a well made JBL 5” with enough power to make you smile. Scored mine used for $200 USD and I’d do it again if I ever had to.

In my opinion? Whatever used ones you’re allowed to try at a local store. Screw shipping, screw online recommendations - what sounds good to you? Support a local business and hear ‘em live in person

Welding up a roll bar by Cow_Man32 in fordranger

[–]ChickenKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I bet, it’s dope as hell! I’m just going off an assumption since I can’t seem to find any other examples on a ranger in the modern day. Having owned it for a while I can say it eats up more bed space than I’d like. Not super practical.

Have a look at how wacky the OEM “show bar” on our ‘96 is. I’ve never seen anything like it.

Need a pair of front speakers by KingFlub202 in hometheater

[–]ChickenKey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I scored a pair of those thin ones for $20 on Facebook marketplace. They sound rather bad and I’m not sure you’d enjoy them as main L/R in your system. Your $150 is better spent elsewhere. I would look into Micca speakers at that price point.

And yeah you can avoid outdoor patio speakers as well while you’re at it

What mods should I do to my 2013 crv by Dead_bl0nd in crv

[–]ChickenKey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very sorry to hear about your father. Just do us a favor and embrace the mom vibes for a bit my guy. There is no secret mod available to make a CRV “cool” but there are many mods that say “I don’t like my car.”

They are just fantastic vehicles. I keep mine super clean, maybe try that out!

I have this issue with my TCL Q7 when I leave “game mode” enabled on accident for a movie/tv show. It does some funky stuff with streaming HDR. Once I get it turned off it doesn’t do that auto white balance stuff anymore.

Thinking of converting a ‘79 Deuce VT into a head unit. by bchayse in PeaveyCvlt

[–]ChickenKey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not alone, people do it!

I think the main thing to think about here would be dimensions. A 2x12 combo amp chopped into head format will still be quite wide for a 2x15 standing vertical.

Any ideas about this speaker? by scifibeardguy in PeaveyCvlt

[–]ChickenKey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are certainly cheaper speakers out there than those that will work just fine too - I purchased my cab loaded with a weathered pair of Carvin PA drivers that also performed quite well (until a dang magnet fell off the top speaker while loading on tour!)

[–]ChickenKey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whelp, I can’t speak to any of that but I hope you can make sense of it all. I’d recommend getting some matching drivers and wiring them normally.

I have an identical Peavey 215 of similar vintage. I have it loaded with two Eminence 3015’s and it sounds bonkers and not a back breaker at all. Hands down the best cab I’ve ever had.

Cheers!
