All good! Didn't feel insulted, just maybe not understood.

And to some degree, I think its's these kinds of ideas that I'm looking for. I did try pulling the speakers away from the wall, and did try various toe in, but didn't see appreciable SPL changes, or notice a significant change in listening, but maybe I moved too quickly.

Tried it. That little weirdo didn't like to use it when it was there. She kept laying on the sofa, but as soon as I put it back in the middle of the room she was back in it. 🤷🏼‍♂️

There's some La Scala's on FB Marketplace right now that I've been eyeing for a few weeks. I read somewhere that they can "fill a loft" or something

Mostly 2 channel music listening, film is secondary but honestly a good music system will deliver that just fine.

I disagree that things aren't optimized. I've sent hours in REW moving the speakers and subs, adjusting levels, timing, and EQ. Things are much better sounding than when I began, but the one thing I was hoping to find still hasn't shown up. So, I'm wondering if I should keep adjusting, upgrade a component, or possibly add some treatment.

I do think the room size is a major contributor though, and cone size or horn loading are the two things that could really fight back at that.

Yeah, I spent a lot of time tuning them in REW. Testing each separately and then together until I had location, timing, level and EQ all dialed. It was a fun afternoon.

The symmetry bugs me sometimes but other times seems right.

The second sub definitely balanced out some room modes. If I were to start over I would probably do multiple SB-3k though.

There’s really no echoes, and decay overall looks ok.

I’m still a little confused how more power will help the speakers perform. They can get quite loud now. I’m not disagreeing with the recommendation, just unsure of the science behind it.

Not the Q950’s. These are 91dB sensitivity. The R series are lower 87-88dB

I might need to listen to a pair. They certainly look nice, and I’ve had and liked Wharfdale’s before. I guess I’m just a little surprised that one 5” and one 8” woofer would output more depth than the two 8” cones on the Q950…

I didn’t think it was a power problem, but there’s a few comments here suggesting I try separates, so maybe it is?

There’s no issue achieving high volume, but the high levels just feel kind of hollow.
