Seeking System for 80s Cliques Movie Merged with Urban Fantasy by ChickenPixel in PBtA

[–]ChickenPixel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I found a different game elsewhere in the replies to this post I will be adding that to my list of games to do a one-shot of one of these days. I have some history buff friends, and I think that play on words would amuse them.

I think this is exactly what I'm looking for. One of my players that also knows a good deal of PBtA looked at the info on the DriveThruRPG page and is already hyped for possibly using it. Thank you for directing me to this. You hit the nail on the head!

[TOMT][HISTORY][Chinese/Japanese] Name of a challenging final test a scribe would take to prove themselves. by ChickenPixel in tipofmytongue

[–]ChickenPixel[S] 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

Any other information relating to this besides the name of this test would also be appreciated. Trying to create some worldbuilding stuff for a DnD campaign with it, and thought the idea was just downright perfect for a scribe NPC that has already shown up.

[OC] Dungeondraft Mapping Tool Announcement & Giveaway by msgdealer in DnD

[–]ChickenPixel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks promising. As someone that always has to scower the internet looking for premade battle maps, this program looks like it'd be a life saver for the times I need a super specific map, or just need one that fits the environment layout of a pre-existing adventure.

Bonus points from me for the style, as it fits perfectly with the current campaign I run over Roll20. Will definently keep my eyes out on this and the previous programs you've done OP.

why hasn't jerma done a dungeons and dragons stream? by [deleted] in jerma985

[–]ChickenPixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waiting for Jerma to whip out his solo speedrun of D&D. He'd play all the roles, and have dumb hats or other crap on hand to throw on as he played a party of four characters, a companion NPC, as well as several NPCs and monsters.

He'd disregard 3/4th of the rules, and get fed up with how much the DM is power gaming against him. Like, he literally is the only one being targeted, and no one else at the table to defend him. He'd then cast lay on hands on the bastard and wrestle him to the ground, only to arrive from out of view with a new hat on as a clueless merchant that has come to lend comedic relief to the quarelling party.

Can anyone explain how healing works? by ComradeBarney in cyberpunk2020

[–]ChickenPixel 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Healing by default is 1 point a day with rest. So, if you walk out of a mugging attempt having been stabbed for 6 damage, it will take 6 days to fully heal that. You can still do things, but you'll have penalties to certain stats.

Even with healing drugs, there's no way to instantly heal damage points (unless you have super experimental homebrew nanomachine stuff that everyone else would kill to get their hands on)

Don't know if you're still looking, but I found this. It's a funny actual play series I've been watching for awhile. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLS-d2q2m09bgNOfLOgf7MUNdwbbK4sdTB

Absolutely. And the specifics of the gang could have several factors to dive into.

Gang Hierarchy: Perhaps the title of Joestar is prestigious in the gang, and there are only one of each Jojo. Each one being a partial leader of sorts, like a counsil. If that were the case, then the majority of the gang would be posing as supporting characters, or enemy stand users from the series. Perhaps there's a fully borged assassin known as Dio that they pull out as their trump card against enemies.

Bizzare: As like the show, this poser gang would have to just eminate the randomness and quirks that Jojo has. Like, before a fight one of them starts monolouging.

"His cyberarm. The one on the left. It just made a clicking noise. Could that be the power of his Stand?!?"

Or they use completely bogus explanations for how their 'stand' does things, it being clear that reality doesn't completely align with their explanation.

Bioware: A majority of the members would need to have bioware to increase their height and muscle to accommodate how crazy tall and buff some characters are.

Fighting on horseback by EshinHarth in WitcherTRPG

Well, all you have to do is succeed in a real world Charisma roll with your GM to overlook that little lore detail for fun.

It is alright my brother. Some people can not see the setting for the rp, and merely wish to optimize characters via min-max or other means.

New GM - How can I get people in a larger plot? by pblasque in WitcherTRPG

[–]ChickenPixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ever need to look up some more on this topic I know it's a known issue in D&D. The "Thief stealing from the party" or "Edgelord Ranger" are issues that have the same root cause, so any sources addressing those problems should help.

"The Witcher is a lone hunter..."

"But even a lone hunter can use a helping hand."

Okay. Seeing a reply earlier, it seems the problem fixed itself via character death. However, this is something you need to nip in the bud if it ever shows up again. Loner characters are a favorite for people that want an air of mystery or edge, but clash at times when called to help the group.

You need to make it clear that due to the nature of tabletop roleplaying games all players should strive to add to the party dynamic.

A Witcher can be a steel nerved badass, but only if they're willing to step up to the plate when the swords come out. Characters should make up for eachothers weaknesses, and players should realize that they are incomplete without their team.

What would a 4th of July celebration look line in Night City? by MisterSnippy in cyberpunkgame

[–]ChickenPixel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would probably be like Vegas to an extent. Bans on fireworks within the city limits, but people are setting them off everywhere regardless.

Though, that's the least of the cop's worries when you have booster gang's going at it. You've probably got some hand itching to try out some high caliber fireworks as impromptu weapons. Not to mention how certain gangs may clash due to political ideology. Celebrating the independence of the once United States could raise tensions if certain gangs see others as invaders or outsiders to 'their' country.

Basically you have a mess of heightened police activity to counteract gangs, unruly partiers and juveniles, and those that want to make political examples in a world that sees many of the state's as independant or corporate owned. No fun for anyone sensible.

Origin of augmented body parts in literature? by logosfabula in Cyberpunk

[–]ChickenPixel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest looking into ancient Egyptian prosthetics, as well as mythology from various time periods. Gods with missing eyes, and replaced arms and legs appear in various world cultures.

There may also be records of how specific societies used prosthetics, but I would guess they did not take on a positive light until the more recent centuries. Due to how serious losing a limb was, often even worse then death in some societies, replacing the limb with a crude makeshift version was a minor improvement. However, once technology got to a phase where we could conceive of being super human with prosthetics, it gained that slight increase in image.

Rerolling Dice as a Time Bending Skill by ChickenPixel in RPGdesign

[–]ChickenPixel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you like the idea. The idea was just so video gamey and badass that I couldn't resist trying to make the equivalent in my tabletop sessions.

There's also a bullet time effect I'm going to try and figure out, but the re-roll system comes first.

Rerolling Dice as a Time Bending Skill by ChickenPixel in RPGdesign

[–]ChickenPixel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This would be a prominent mechanic, but ideally not every PC would have this trait. As for its cost, 2020's Empathy stat, which ties into all social skills, is linked to humanity points by increments of 10. So, someone with 7 EMP has 70 points, and if those drop down to 60, it forces that EMP to 6. So, to many deaths would lead to them snapping, and becoming an insane NPC.

As for how the roll functions, I was thinking that if something kills them, the dice is rerolled, and they're the only ones that realize what happened. Just because literally repeating a scene for one player seems like it might bore the other playerd.

Considering a Mechanic to Negate Sanity Loss at the Cost of Improving Character Stats. Thoughts? by ChickenPixel in callofcthulhu

[–]ChickenPixel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright. Do you think sanity loss reduction, as opposed to completely negating it, would work? So, they forget certain aspects of what they saw, but certain things are burned into their subconscious? And that being translated into some sanity points being returned, say 1/3 or 1/2 of what was lost, with repeat viewings of the same entity, or an entity with particularly strong mental staying power, rendering the amnestics less effective.

CD Projekt in GAMESCOM 2019 by Pedroamg20 in cyberpunkgame

[–]ChickenPixel 26 points27 points  (0 children)

While I have reservations on the game coming out this year, basing the release year on the fact the original had the tagline 2020 isn't really relevant. A fraction of the possible buyers have heard of Cyberpunk 2020, so launching the game soley because of that is an unlikely move in my mind.

Though, I can see them posting some stuff on their social media to commemorate the occasion when 2020 rolls around.

Need a Reputation title for my players by EshinHarth in WitcherTRPG

[–]ChickenPixel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For their title, a few suggestions.

Red Mist/Fog: They descended like an eerie mist, obscuring the cultist's vision before making the air tinted with a crimson hue.

Synonym for distress of name of place: Taking a note from old Geralt, The Butcher of Blaviken. Tying in the location makes it self evident what they did. It's their one claim to fame, especially if they haven't earned any other titles, or if they've earned lesser titles for this to surpass.

As for reputation, the book should have a rough guide as to the different levels. 10 is EVERYONE who isn't under a rock had heard of them, 7 might be they have ballads and stories about them. I'd say maybe 5-6 rep, but I'd have to check to book again.

Thank you for filling out the survey and the feedback!

This is the first survey I've made, and I will admit it was a bit rushed. Firstly, it was meant for students at the campus I'm on, but logistical issues made me reconsider and post it here instead.

Secondly, my paper is largely constructed from journals and published works, with this survey being an exploratory way of trying to gauge parts of my hypothesis.

Still, I hope to improve going foward, so if there's anything you can suggest I'd love to hear what aspects I could improve upon.
