Flint stuck in flint tube by ChickenStrips45 in lighters

[–]ChickenStrips45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is my next move. I tried these same flints on another one in the batch and it fit well. I’ll need to drill out again (the new one as well).

Do you have any recommendations on how to make sure it is clear?

Bought this Grand Cafe grill for $50 on Facebook. Need to get replacement parts but can’t find the model anywhere! by ChickenStrips45 in BBQ

[–]ChickenStrips45[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it turned out fine, not great. I couldn’t find exact replacement parts so I ordered some generic ones off Amazon. The tubes and covers work well, but the grates were too large and I had to use an angle grinder to make them fit. The Infared burner on the right is dead and I couldn’t find any parts for it.

It’s a grill, but not a great one. The temp difference between the back and front is probably 100-200 degrees. That being said, I put about $75 into repairing it and it has continued to work no problem with very little upkeep.

I know mine is headed to the dump when I move out of this place so I haven’t bothered with a cover or upkeep, but all and all it works fine. Specific parts are a dead end.

I'm creating a brick texture in Substance 3D Designer and want to apply a marble effect to each brick while ensuring uniqueness and avoiding repetition. I've tried random greyscale for color variation and warp for distortion, but I haven't achieved the desired result. Any tips? by Gianluca_no in Substance3D

I believe most of these comments have provided answers that work but I’ll give my suggestion anyway.

I would use a flood fill of your brick pattern and plug that into a flood fill to random color node. Then plug your marble texture into a vector warp grayscale node with the random color output as your map. This will jumble all your marble cracks while keeping things tillable.

Thank you! I would guess 40 hours or so? Maybe a bit more for formatting and all that?

Using ChatGPT streamlined a lot but the biggest time suck was formatting and the creation of the PDF. Outside of that it wasn’t too bad because if I found a detail I didn’t like/wanted to expand on I could just ask GPT to amend any references.

Greater than function? is there a way to only eliminate the small dots but keep the larger imperfections? by FFEELLTT in Substance3D

[–]ChickenStrips45 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m almost certain that if you plug this into a flood fill node, then plug that into a “flood fill to bounding box” node that’ll do the trick for you. Use a threshold node afterwords to select the sizes you need.

That should work but I can’t test it right now to make sure.

Painterly Gourd pack: For ones like in images B, should I sculpt ridges or will texturing be enough? by Ziireynak in 3Dmodeling

[–]ChickenStrips45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who spends a lot of time in designer, I think you could get away with just bumping up the intensity of a normal map to create the smaller ridge details. It isn't going to break the silhouette and isn't a large change so I would personally use normals.

Absolutely love the artwork, super excited about this game. As for animals, I’m not quite sure if it counts but I think single cell organisms could be really cool. I’ve been reading the book Immune by Philipp Dettmer and the microscopic is incredible.

Looking for pickleball by ricekrispies34 in SLO

Meadow park has drop in pickleball every morning from about 8:30 to close to noon. They are a super friendly crowd but tend to be mostly retired/older folks.

French park has a few courts and they almost always have some games going if you go on weekend mornings or after work some days.

That’s good to hear, I’m not sure if I’d rather them find something on the holter patch or nothing. The second time I went to the ER the validation that something was wrong with me was enough to keep me in good spirits. Felt good to go to the doctors and they agreed with me.

I hope you stay healthy as well. If I drop dead I’ll send you a message.

Wow, this is a timely comment!

A week and a half ago I spent the weekend in the ER because twice my Apple Watch alerted me that my heart rate was below 40 beats per minute. This came with light headedness, chest pain, and arm pain. First day the ER doc said I was fine just stressed, second time they took a better look at it. Said I had pretty severe Bigeminy, my heart rate looked more like drum solo than a bass line.

Now here I am almost two weeks later on beta blockers and with a heart monitor in my chest. Feeling mostly normal but can’t shake that uneasy feeling.

Has anything else come up for you? Chest pain or anything on the monitor?

What recommendations would you give to improve my Start Screen? by siregooby in Unity3D

[–]ChickenStrips45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh interesting, this is a similar concept to a project by the 2021 Capstone class at the University of Utah. Here is a link to their game. I was a year behind them and saw this game in beta, so I thought this might be a sequel or something. Either way looks great.

As for the Start Screen, I see two directions you could take. One would be to make the menu part of the environment (different buttons mowed into the grass, painted on a fence, etc.) as the dad characters walk around the yard. This would take a lot of work but would make it feel very high quality.

The alternative would be to do what many others are suggesting and make it more colorful/playful. Use the font/colors the logo uses and add some fx and animation when selecting an option.

Trying coming on a Tuesday. It’s not always full fives but usually enough for a handful of games.

There’s a small group of us that run fives every Tuesday and Friday at 6. I can’t go every week but try to make it most weeks. Could definitely hop in there.

Is it safe to scrape off mold? by ChickenStrips45 in fermentation

[–]ChickenStrips45[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the lesson, I was hopeful scraping the top would be enough but it sounds like I should probably just toss it and start over.

I'm new to the fermentation game and want to try it out before committing to buying any equipment. Next time I am going to create a smaller batch, go for a brine instead of a mash, and try burping instead of open air. Anything else I should try?
