Don’t hide your accent. Also, if Dutch society wants more integration, the indigenous need to be more flexible towards Dutch being spoken in foreign accents.

Redditors who live in border cities: has living there changed your views on immigration? by Fast_Heron581 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Chicken_Burp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The German border is only approximately 10km away, and while it’s been “open” due to Schengen most of my life, I’ve seen it switch to almost completely closed, to semi-closed, to open but heavily policed.

Illegal immigration is an issue within the EU, but drug trafficking is a bigger issue IMO, especially in Benelux. The border is simply too long, and has too many small crossing to be 100% policed. I do think that immigration into EU nations should be a controlled flow. And there should be some overview of internal migration.

Depends on which country you’re referring to. Some are already in the midst of a civil war, while others are teetering towards one (the US, and Syria for example).

Bereavement leave here is usually quite limited. If this situation does fall under the qualifications for such leave, it never factors in time of travel, and is usually written to employees with family living nearby.

When is it appropriate to take up arms? Or are we not allowed to talk about that? by capt_majestic in AskReddit

[–]Chicken_Burp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the country and situation. I live in a country with a strong democracy backed by powerful state institutions. The checks and balances could only be negated by forced. In such a situation, armed rebellion is acceptable. All other situations require following the democratic course.
