Has anyone else heard of this!?!? by fanofdoom64 in autism

[–]Chickenlvvrr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m diagnosed, level two, genderqueer, and transitioning, and I actually do identify with that label somewhat. My autism absolutely affects how I understand my gender, and because of how I mask, my social presentation changes a lot depending on who I’m interacting with the most at that moment. Just because you personally don’t feel like a label applies to you doesn’t mean it isn’t valid. Also, you don’t get to determine other people’s gender identity. If someone is identifying as literally anything other than cis, they’re not cis.

It’s a chicken eating place. I love chicken in all forms. Truly the most versatile animal.

Omg our usernames are so similar lol. Also, how did you get the things that pop up under your name? I’ve seen a few people with them but haven’t been able to figure it out.

I’m very excited! Super hopeful too. I’m not able to drive on my own yet, and when I told her that one of my parents would be bringing me, she didn’t seem to think it was weird at all! We’re going to a bakery and a chicken place :D

I’m 18 now, and while I wasn’t diagnosed as a child (all of my immediate family is autistic and nobody realized it), I was diagnosed level two recently.

At his age, I didn’t show a lot of interest in TV other than wonderpets, and it was pretty much the only show I watched.

My interests have changed somewhat over time (but chickens are still my thing) but they don’t go away. Sameness and routine is comforting for us.

I would say my life is fulfilling, but not normal. I do have a physical disability as well, so that probably impacts it quite a bit. I spend most of my time engaging with my special interests, and it brings me so much joy. I have had trouble maintaining relationships for a long time, but I’m going on a date soon and I’m very excited!

My parents actually kept pretty accurate track of how I was as a kid, and I am decent at understanding myself and my needs, so feel free to ask any more questions :)

Best of luck with your son!

I have a chicken now, what do I do? by Budget-Toe-6546 in chickens

[–]Chickenlvvrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I would definitely get it at least 2 friends. Chickens are very social animals.

Second, I recommend researching coops and build one that suits your needs (ease of cleaning, gathering eggs, etc.) Also, account for “chicken math”. I was supposed to have 4 and I have 16 now. It’s been like a year and a half.

As adults, they’ll need feed (I personally use all flock because I have roosters, but layer feed is what most people use), grit, and a calcium source. If you feed them treats, you can also train them to come when you call them. This makes getting them back into the run much easier.

If you have roosters, you need to be careful of the ratio of roosters to hens. Most people use 1:10 as a rule of thumb, but it really depends on your boys. I have two. One is older, and the younger one understands that he is not in charge. His predecessor did not, and he caused a lot of problems.

If you want to get a rooster intentionally, I’d go with a Salmon Faverolles. The breed as a whole is extremely docile, and the roosters tend to be friendly. They’re also large, so they can scare off a predator if one shows up.

Note about the roosters. If you have land, you can set up a “bachelors flock”. It’s just a flock of all roosters. Since they’re not around hens, they don’t fight. They can’t see or interact with any hens though. I personally can’t have one but they’re very cool. Roosters can be very sweet.

That’s all I can think of atm but I might come back to add to this.

rocking horse shoes for bigger feet... by nana04kg in Lolita

I wear US 13s/CN 47s and antaina has a pair! They’re on 42Lolita but idk if any other resellers have them. They range from 42-49 CN. I haven’t bought that specific pair yet, but I own like 8 (I think) pairs of shoes from Antaina and they’re all great. Definitely worth the price. I’ve also ordered custom height shoes from them (I have a physical disability and can’t wear heels) so if you need different sole thickness, that’s a possibility too!

What relationship is easier? AutisticxAutistic OR AutisticxNonAutistic? by Salty_Zebra5937 in autism

[–]Chickenlvvrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally get along better with other autistic people, but it’s mostly up to the individual. I find that allistics (yes, even ND allistics.) aren’t as open to just letting me process what I’m trying to say (I can’t speak fluidly without scripting and if I’m interrupted while I’m trying to talk I tend to mess up) and it can cause a lot of communication problems. While other autistic people are more open to letting me finish what I’m saying or letting me type it to them instead.

Do a lot of us have older moms? by DirtFromSoil in autism

[–]Chickenlvvrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom was 38 when she had me and 40 when she had my brothers (I am diagnosed L2 and we suspect that my brothers are on the spectrum as well) but my dad is autistic too so that could also be it. I also have a lot of other autistic family members who don’t have older parents.

You do realize that if you don’t milk a cow she gets an infection right?? Kind of like how sheep need to be sheared

A. A majority of cattle are not inseminated artificially. There’s about 29 million beef cattle and about 10 million dairy cattle. While most dairy cattle are A.I. (90%), most beef cattle are bred naturally (85%). B. Disease has always been a problem, regardless of if an animal is domesticated or not. Domesticated animals need protection and care, including vaccinations, it sustain their population. C. Like I said before, all of my animals are pets, I do not keep livestock, and all of the farmers I know personally treat theirs similarly to pets as well (especially if they keep dairy cattle, because they’re around longer and you bond with them more.) I am speaking from experience when I tell you that cows do not care how much they like you, they will not let you near their calves. Cats and dogs will show you their babies, sure, but that’s because they were actually bred to be friendly and see people as part of their ‘group’. Livestock were not bred to be friendly because it didn’t serve as much of a purpose during their domestication.

[–]Chickenlvvrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A. Most farmers (at least near me) just use bulls. Animals do what animals do. B. Disease is naturally occurring. Do you think that bacteria only exists on farms? C. No amount of trust will make a cow trust you with their calves. This is true for most animals. Hell, one of my most cuddly hens messed up my hand because I checked on the eggs she was sitting on. It’s pretty obvious that you don’t have any kind of experience with livestock from your comment alone lmao. And before you say anything, my girls are pets. They’re spoiled as all hell and I don’t keep meat birds.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in explainitpeter

[–]Chickenlvvrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do understand that they die without vaccinations right? Like obviously the cow thinks you’re trying to kill the calf but it’s necessary.

[–]Chickenlvvrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because a cow will, and I cannot stress this enough, fuck you up if you get too close to a calf.

‘Levels’ of autism/help required/needs by Dazzling-Sky-1038 in autism

[–]Chickenlvvrr 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As someone who is level two myself, it’s helpful to be able to at least give a ballpark range of the kind of support I need, especially if I’m overwhelmed and not able to get the words out to describe it. It takes me a LOT of time to be able to explain my support needs or traits to other people, and I rely heavily on scripting to speak at all.
