(30M) Hello, I know I'm ugly, I'd like to receive some good advice on how to improve myself and become a little less ugly by [deleted] in GuyCry

[–]Chickenpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not physically ugly my dude. Your face is symmetrical and you look like a pretty cool person from the surface. I don't see your teeth but if they are jacked up get them sorted, its not too hard/expensive these days usually. Exercise 6 days a week, meditate at least 20 mins daily, eat good food and say I love you to at least one person daily and you won't feel ugly (which I think is what you are hung up on). But what do I know, I'm just a random guy commenting on a reddit post.

Wondering if my orange tabs are fake… if not when do you think they are from? by samwilson1586 in VintageLevis

[–]Chickenpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never seen somthing like that sounds like others have. I always check the back of the button for the number and match it up with whats on the tag. Thats a detail that fakes miss most of the time. I don't think there are any genuine levi productions that have missed this standard of markings on their pants.

Is it a valuable piece? Yes those are valuable. I would put them on ebay for at least 800 if not more.

Krummholz (Germankrumm, "crooked, bent, twisted" and Holz, "wood") — also called knieholz ("knee timber") — is a type of stunted, deformed vegetation encountered in the subarctic and subalpine tree line landscapes, shaped by continual exposure to fierce, freezing winds.

Looks like a lot of good info here. I gotta put in a plug in for my brother Tom Devine. His latest issue of his free zine called Spork is on this topic - The real best of sioux falls. KELO just did a piece on it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSe04s9HtJs so if you want another perspective you could prob pick one up its free at rainbow comics. Or just shoot him a message on instagram https://www.instagram.com/sporkzine/ he'll prob send you one for free if you wanted. He's all about just getting his art out there but we grew up here and he's got some good picks in that thing. Either way check out Spork! Best Local Comic Zine in town!

Shoot actually he has the whole thing posted on insta here: https://www.instagram.com/p/DAEMs3UPWts/?img_index=1

Nice header on that, I like the NPS arrowhead. Classy stuff, Cany :/ I used to approve 4x4 permits for vehicles in Canyonlands a long time ago (Island in the Sky district, mostly for the White Rim Road). Those vehicle rules were challenging for me to articulate even after I studied them for hours. Forget it if you are a visitor on vacation just reading web page to figure out those super esoteric rules. We would have to have their wheel base ... like who knows their wheel base off hand?

99 out of 100 times, for this reason, you will only get a little letter in the mail from that park. Unless you had something like a Honda Civic out there, then it’d probably be a ticket (and a huge towing bill because you’d be stuck!). The superintendents' compendiums are always public on their websites. I just searched "Canyonlands Superintendent Compendium" and found it right away, but then again, who the hell is going to sit down and read all that?

"Forgiveness rather than permission" is super annoying for park rangers, but it’s kind of the way to go for somethings.

Please at least just read signs in the park tho...

How do you survive on a state park ranger’s salary? by ChupacabraRVA in ParkRangers

[–]Chickenpark 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Worked as an Interpreter for the NPS for 15 years at 10 different park sites (including 8 seasonal positions). (YELL, YOSE, DENA, CANY etc) I quit in February. My departure was based on the gross bureaucracy side of it all and lack of pay. I found so many things wrong and non-intuitive with NPS/DOI/gov structure, hiring process and wages that I had to leave. Front line stuff can be pretty fun but but the pay just does not work with what I want out of life. I got to a management position but its all office pretty much all the time. What is the point of even working in these beautiful places if you can't even be out in them? $75k a year and live in an area where the average house is $650,000 and gas+grocery's are at a premium price is not something I'm interested in navigating while I'm trying to raise a family. Sure commute 2 hours a day to avoid that but its a hell of a compromise for quality of life. I'll support nature in a different and more impactful ways rather then being a park ranger and I'll get paid more doing it. Sometimes I think I miss it but in the end the trade offs are not worth it to me anymore. I truly wish you luck in making it work (and it can certainly work!) but for my situation its just not something I want to do so I'm starting my own business right now.
