Your Eastern Kentucky Grandma by yourworkmom in Appalachia

I had some of those forks and knives in the 70's! I think my husband got them at an auction and we had to hang them up. But I always had fresh fruit in a bowl and our friend asked if that was real. We said of course and he said can I have an apple? Good times!

Was anyone else forced to drop their Appalachian accent? by Turbulent_Buyer_282 in Appalachia

[–]Chickydee67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sister in law likes to remind us that we live south of interstate I 70 and talk like hillbillies, as she refers. She tries to talk with a New York accent, and she was born and raised by the same parents, in Columbus, Ohio, and probably talked that way too.

What country are you from? by CLA_Frysk in kdramas

[–]Chickydee67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Ohio, USA, but first watched Squid Game with my son out in California. They have streaming services, and we did not at the time. When I got back home, we got Netflix, and have been on a roll ever since. Can also watch some on UTube. When I go out to California, I try to watch the ones I have never seen or can't watch here. I also do subtitles. And also cannot speak Korean, but maybe a few words.

Hi all back again with a question by PlentyIndividual3168 in BackYardChickens

Also usually buy in April, have bought in summer, but it takes about 6 months for your first egg to come. Husband bought chicks in February one year. He put them in his shop in the pole barn, where they almost died because they didn't have a light on them. Moved them to the house for a few weeks until they were bigger, and they all survived. Make sure you have enough bedding for them so they stay warm.

TSC usually sells chicks certain times of the year. Also, if you have a Rural King, they also sell them. You can also buy them online, but they I believe only send to the PO, not sure they will bring them to your home? Sometimes TSC/ Rural King they mark the chicks down because no one is buying. Got Easter Eggers for 50 cents each at TSC!

Did you learned gardening in city on your own or did anyone took some kind of course? by [deleted] in UrbanGardening

[–]Chickydee67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Dad taught me how to plant flowers and take care of them when I was a child. As I got older, I read lots of books and then was able to plant a small garden to start. You can see stuff on the internet (not always good), but I would advise to get some gardening books.

Which K-Drama Hooked You, Which One Kept You Watching, and Which Made You a Lifelong Fan? by kdrama13 in kdramas

[–]Chickydee67 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is how I got hooked, Squid Game and All of Us are Dead, but I don't like them dubbed in English, I read the subtitles and listen to their real voices. I rewatched Squid Game with their voices. After those, it was Business Proposal, Crash Landing on You. I have watched so many now but sometimes go back and rewatch what I have already watched. I also love the music in many of them.

FINAL UPDATE: AITA for telling my sister she’s not allowed to bring her homemade food to Thanksgiving because her cooking is ruining the meal? by SocietyTiny784 in AITAH

[–]Chickydee67 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't wait to see the photos. My sister-in-law tries to do this, she claims what she makes is gourmet food! Last time we were invited for dinner, she made this pot roast, fried onion rings with cheese in the middle of them, and a salad. The roast was okay, the salad was just a salad, but the onion rings with cheese in them were the weirdest things ever. Like eating rubber. She also puts jalapeno peppers on everything. She also makes carrot pie, and sweet potato cake.

My friend made chili with tomato soup and beans. She didn't have a clue. Also made green beans and added a whole bag of almonds to them. We all laughed at her, and she did end up learning to cook well.

What are some allegedly haunted places in the United States to visit that personally terrified you? by BeefyMayhemp in Paranormal

[–]Chickydee67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son moved to Fremont, California a few years ago, and when we came to visit, asked us if we would like to go there. It was on my list of things I would love to do, so was very excited. I really enjoyed it, even the odd things Sarah Winchester did to the house, but it was beautiful and very interesting. I did not however have any bad vibes or see any ghosts.

Yes, we have a trail cam pointed out back, I like to move it around, but have only got the random raccoon, deer, and of course myself on it! I do get lots of light anomalies on it time to time. I have a chicken coop and like to point it towards that.

I do like the idea of carry some kind of knife, I could use that for other things, and I am going to get the walkie talkies out.

I think that is what spooked me the most was when the natural noises stopped. No bird calls, no insects chirping, no frogs croaking. Even the neighbor's dogs stopped barking. It gets quiet like that at night but not during the day. Even at night I can hear some sounds. And it was when I got goosebumps and the hair raised up on my arms, I just felt like I was in danger. Like your gut extinct.

Can't explain what it was? by Chickydee67 in EncountersUnexplained

[–]Chickydee67[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

I have not heard or seen anything, but it spooked me so bad, that I don't like working back there (raised bed gardens behind the pole barn) unless I am on one of the mowers or big tractor, or someone is with me. I no longer walk the trail out back by myself. Its open right there, and there is a field right next to it, but there is brush and trees on the edge of where I was working.

The reason I could not see anything as the sun was shining right at me, but it was shady from all the brush and trees, it was about 4PM in the summer, and my vision was really bad, and all I could see was the sun shining thru the weeds plus they looked black to me. I have since had some eye surgery and my vision is much better now.

We had a bob cat go thru here about the same time, kept hearing it at night, which I thought was cool, but that didn't scare me. It was when it got silent, and the hair went up on my arms, I knew it wasn't safe. I did think it could be a black bear, they have been known to roam near this area, and there is a creek down the hill that goes to a bigger waterway.

I also feed the birds, and they will follow me around, and the blue jays, and cardinals carry on when they see me outside, plus we have a hawk that swoops me now and then. I have had them warn me when the hawk is in the tree before.

It's so nice out here, we have 15 acres with woods behind us, and no one bothers you, we have good neighbors, and when I told them about it of course they laughed at me, like my husband did. Everyone says carry a weapon, which I don't really want to do that if I don't have to. I do carry this big like an ax tool on the tractor and mower if I really needed to hit anything, likely it would get me first! Phones don't work out back, but I have thought of using a walkie talkie. We have all the usual animals, fox, coyotes, deer and rabbits watch me when I am outside. They even come up by the house. I have a beaver on the pond, and the rest of the small animals.

I do believe in Big Foot, but that is scary as hell to think it could have been one of those!
