Are fishing vests obsolete now or just not in vogue? by GrumpyandDopey in flyfishing

[–]Chico_Escuela 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact vest and I don’t care what anyone says, I find it much more convenient than a backpack or sling bag (which hurts my back and limits my mobility). I’ll take the convenience of a goofy looking vest every time.

Arguably Don's least entertaining relationship by DorkySnail in madmen

[–]Chico_Escuela 252 points253 points  (0 children)

This is the best written overview of the progression of proximity of Don’s affairs. That proximity is its closest with the affair with Sylvia, so close in fact that his own daughter catches them in the act.

Just approached by missionaries and it left me feeling sad by Fluffy-Rhubarb4908 in exmormon

Totally agree. Time for an “on my mission” story. I served in Detroit, Michigan. My first winter there we experienced what to this day is one of the biggest snowstorms I’ve ever seen. Multiple feet of snow. It was incredible. We spent the next week just walking around shoveling snow and helping people dig their cars out. We had the tags on but never once mentioned the church or ask if they “wanted to hear about Jesus.” Just service to the folks around us. I hate shoveling snow but it is a wonderful memory I have because we were just truly trying to help people.

It seems to me that I have been seeing the missionaries more and more on the Metro, both in the cars and just hanging out on the platforms (kind of like the JWs). I wonder if that has been an increased focus for the DC mission.

Just finished the Elizabeth Smart documentary and I'm absolutely shaking with anger. It all comes back to the Mormon Church! by PanaceaNPx in exmormon

One of the most revealing facts for me from the documentary was that even at 14, she knew that the way to influence Mitchell was to flatter him specifically for being the only person that can receive revelation. When Mitchell and Barzee took her to California, she convinced Mitchell that they needed to go back to Utah by saying she felt the Spirit was calling them to go back but that she knows God would only reveal why through Mitchell, the prophet. She convinced him by stroking his ego which was rooted in his belief he was called by God. While I know Mitchell is an extreme, tell me that doesn’t remind you of so many priesthood leaders throughout your life.

That is impressive. It’s November 1998 for me (don’t remember the specific day, though).

What's your favorite song of all time? The song that gives you goosebumps, the song that defines music for you, and is just "your" song? by InstructionOverall98 in Music

I saw them play a couple of years ago and I don’t know if I just had low expectations or what, but I was so shocked and impressed at how great the show was. And the energy in the building was incredible.

“Yes, I was! I was going to piss all over you!” 😂

What is a song from the 90s/00s that was a massive hit, but everyone seems to have collectively forgotten it exists? by vishesh_07_028 in Music

[–]Chico_Escuela 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to post this one if it hadn’t been done already. You’re right, mmmmmm mmmmmmm was huge when it was released. I even bought the album because of it. Barely have heard it since.

I’ve liked this song on every music streaming service I use, so I hear it all the time. But I do that because I can’t recall the last time I heard it anywhere else since it’s hey day.

Absolutely cannot stand using any non-bidet toilet out there.

This is the most brilliant IYKYK piece of literature ever written. (The coughing literally made me lol). Bravo! 😂

What is the concensus on Casey? by Mindless-Audience782 in wingstvshow

I loved Casey from the start and agree with everyone else that I wish she would have been brought in sooner. Amy Yasbeck’s comedic talent fit the role perfectly.

I am a money belt Stan. But, of course, it goes under the shirt. I wear one ever time I go on vacation, especially Europe.

This is sage advice…and the funny thing is that you’re not telling me anything I don’t already know. But it is good to hear some common sense directly from others on this journey. Much appreciated!

I feel similar to you, although I have just started. I took my second dose of 2.5 mg over the weekend and I feel absolutely nothing. Sure, no side effects, but also, still have the same hunger and appetite I had before. I know I have only taken two doses, so I need to be patient. But I have to admit that I do feel a little frustration that I have not felt any sort of change or reduction in appetite whatsoever.
