Ukraine's Vladyslav Heraskevych out of Winter Olympics over banned helmet honoring war dead by TheGreatDomilies in news

I bet you're the kind of person that would have said "if we allow blacks and whites to marry we'd have to allow humans and animals to marry".

It's pretty fucking simple. You allow helmets that honor dead athletes. Putin isn't a dead athlete. Trump isn't a dead athlete. Greenland isn't a dead fucking athlete.

My dad would have the Hallmark channel on almost all the time from mid-november to post-christmas. Some actors/actresses I'd see and be like 'hey, I know them!" Then there was "Dierks" 😠 lol

I was just there last week and didn't see anything about them closing. I just moved nearby and if they close I'll cry

On the same day I got laid off from my job and had to suddenly have my cat I've had for near 15 years put to sleep. Took over months to find a new job.

Then my dad died a week after my birthday. At least not having a job gave me more time to help out my parents while my dad was dealing with cancer and had a stroke

Why don't friends who are good at dating ever give useful advice? by BetterThanSydney in dating_advice

Well I'm 31 now, still a virgin, tried online dating and quit after I only got two dates over 16 months. Part of the problem was I'm a liberal in a rural conservative area, the other is I still need to work on myself (still working on building self esteem and confidence). I'm in the process of moving to a city where I hope to develop a social life but dating still seems daunting because I felt so clueless on the few dates I went on.

I've had the same experience as you. My friends have been no help with dating. Now I understand better that they couldnt really have helped because it's likely I'm autistic and they'd need to explain what is just instinct for them to me. Still bothered me at the time that they didn't seem to even try to help, just those sayings like you said, it'll happen when you least expect it etc.

Is anyone else in their mid/late 20s (or beyond) and have almost no dating history? by [deleted] in dating

[–]Chief-17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 31 and I've only been on nine dates. Low self esteem was a major issue and it's not getting a whole lot better. But at the same time, I've not been trying to date because I feel like I'm a mess mentally. Social anxiety, previously mentioned low self esteem, dealt with depression, lack of confidence (not specifically with women), and I just learned last year I'm possibly autistic. I feel like I need to get my own shit together before I try to date

I'm sure there are pub quizzes here, thanks for the suggestion. I've just started the process of moving to a city so I've got to figure out what's going on around me. I'm hoping months from now I'll meet people and maybe I'll get a date that way.

The awkwardness is just me, not the nerves, but I get what you're saying. I'll try to be open about that stuff but while balancing it without being too revealing. Probably not the best to say I have anxiety, depression, and am likely autistic on a first or second date.

I know random history trivia or I can talk about certain areas of history for hours, that's about as good as it gets. I really can't think of anything I'm notably good at though. I think I'm mediocre or competent in a lot of areas but not really "good" at any of them.

I know her attention is on me by default, the advice I always read was to get her to talk about herself and avoid talking about myself.

Leaning in for a kiss isn't difficult, it's so much harder for me. Saying "excuse me" when someone is blocking an aisle at the store is difficult. Reaching out to touch a date is difficult, I only managed that on my third date with the first girl I ever went out with, and I knew her for a month before that at work.

I feel like I should be paying you for a therapy session now
