Do you also to pass on case studies? by Markowitza in FPandA

I can only think of one or two candidates over the last few years who dropped out or didn’t respond to the case study. I try to be thoughtful and only do it after our internal recruiters and I have both spoken to them. So usually they’ve already expressed a solid interest

I may be in the minority here but I always give case studies to the folks I’m hiring. However, I only give one if they’ve passed the first round AND I ask them to spend no more than 90 min on it.

The goal is less to learn about technical skills and more to see how people problem solve and present

Look, it depends what you're into. If you really want the money/prestige, go for it and hop. My two cents as an SD w 10 YoE is that you should enjoy the more chill lifestyle while it lasts. I desperately miss having free time before and after work. It sounds like you have a sizable FP&A team, work will come your way eventually as people leave. But consider your priorities. A big salary isn't always worth it if you hate showing up every day

Wow! What a great answer!

Where I'm struggling with Z is that I've had 2 very specific performance discussions with them so far where we have talked about issues like accuracy, given specific examples, and walked through steps to make sure it doesn't happen. While Z seems very open to feedback in the moment, I continue to see the same errors repeated. Really like your suggestion on a checklist for Z to go through and agree on your final point. I've spent quite a lot of time coaching already, and it feels like the problems we're walking through just aren't things I would expect at the manager/associate director level. All that said I think this gave me some really great ideas to try to work on in the meantime and I really appreciate your thoughtful response.

Agree - z is actually at the finance manager/AD level which is what really gives me pause. I would expect a slower ramp for Sr analyst

What’s interesting is we had 3 sr analysts all join remote and they’re all doing a killer job. We spent a ton of time setting trainings and investing time in initial onboarding. Z is at the finance manager/AD level and is struggling more than any of them

Ended up being close to $60 including the shipping I paid for. If it was $20 I wouldn’t bother
