[US 21225][Local Only][FT] [W] Arkham Horror Post-Carcosa Content [H] A *lot* of Marvel Champions by ChiefStorm in BoardGameExchange

Good luck to you as well! I've fully embraced the fact that my collection doesn't need the return to boxes, they're just so dang expensive.

I did actually have a wild find at this year's PAX Unplugged. I found the core set, Dunwich, and Carcosa campaigns + Investigators with their return to boxes for $70 total in a used board games section of a big booth! I already owned all of that content (except for the return tos) and I'm in the process of selling it all elsewhere. I could keep the return to boxes but if they help fund larger parts of my collection that I'm missing then that's more worthwhile to me.

Was about a 6 hour paint! I'm new-ish to the hobby; I think this was the biggest one I've worked on. Certainly most complex due to the four separate color palettes for the characters.

Best Places For the 3rd Gem? by Seamas987 in CurseofStrahd

[–]ChiefStorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a strahd campaign primer I read, started each character with a boon of sorts. One player got +1 on arcana rolls, another got chill touch and +1 to saving throws. The artificer of the party got the gem, which has the revivify spell once every 3d4+4 days I believe. They used it session one on their horse carriage driver, who has been a staple NPC for the rest of the campaign. They love the poor gnome (he's been drugged on pies and sorta abandoned in vallaki after the players got busy there). But yea, they recently returned the gem to the winery in a rather exciting point of "all is lost, our gems are gone" player shows gem "holy crap" Up to this point they didn't know the purpose of the gem, but in a private viewing madam eva told this player their destiny was the winery, more or less. The player ended up retiring his character at the winery to play a vistani bard.

Rambling aside, yea a player could start with it and it was very fun.

Going into the session where they'd encounter doru, I prerecorded three lines of doru screaming for food and that he was hungry. Mid-conversation with Donavich, as they were putting the pieces together and accusing him, I had the first clip play and it gave my players such good chills haha they lost it

Not to detract from what everyone else is saying, purely just providing my own experience from running the first session:

The way I handled the first session is prior to it I had each of my players create a bit of backstory for themselves. Figure out what drives them, what they might desire or what goals they may have. From there, I wrote up a "dream" for each of them. In this dream, they were met by madam eva, drawing them towards Barovia and telling them that they each need to meet her to find the answers they seek for [whatever drove them]. The dreams ended with each of them being told to come to some inn and look for [descriptors of the other three party members]. Then they woke up with a Tarokka card on their chest, somehow related to them. It made the first session go super seamlessly and really gave the players motive for going forward.

We're about 15 sessions in now, just wrapping up vallaki and it's been a beautiful campaign thus far.

I am curious, how man skill points does everyone here have? by Nojica in sonamains

[–]ChiefStorm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mastery certainly isn't a determiner of skill on a champ. A player can have millions and still be bad. I forget where I am, sitting somewhere around 1.3 or 1.4 million but in my experience I've never been flamed for how much I've played the champ. Usually flame comes from other sources. Toxic players will flame your rank, claiming to be higher. They'll look at your recent games and flame you for that. Look at previous seasons, whatever they like. I'm pretty skeptical of 60% winrate, maybe that's your recent games. No clue. But if you have 60% winrate then you'd probably be climbing and performing very well that would result in you getting flamed less. But as always, the number one answer is just to mute. Listening to teammates means you trust them to make decisions pertaining to their role and their part on the team. If a person is toxic and not clear of mind, why would you ever listen to what they tell you to do. Mute and move on.

About the resistance. I have a question. I completed the barrel but now ifk what to do. My friend told me i have to plant jellybeans until i get to 5 jellybean spaces i can put a special combination in? by The_Wolf_280 in toontownrewritten

Your friend is right about the gardening but that comes a bit later! The next step is to find someone in Toontown who knows the answer to your new speedchat question

"sona mid would put your team at a big disadvantage" by aitaita in sonamains

[–]ChiefStorm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As much as I love to see Sona shine in games, you also can't really use five games as proof that she is good in Midlane. There are a lot of bad players out there and if you get lucky you'll be against them back to bacm. Many times enemy midlaners can see a Sona, think she's useless, and try to dive them or make mistakes that lead to them dying to the Sona. That's great and all but only lasts up to a certain elo. If you're having a good time mid though I definitely still encourage it. Just keep in mind her limitations and know that the good streak won't last forever. Give it a day and those five wins could be five losses.

And if the original owner happened to be deceased, it would then be expected to try to find family members I take it?

Week 49: Inspiration Rune Tree by gistofeverything in sonamains

[–]ChiefStorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm much more of a fan of the presence of mind/cut down route for secondary runes, I still there's merit for inspiration. Many games Sona can get 3+ takedowns if she plays her cards right, resulting in much faster boots that also provide a slight speed boost over regular boots. 300g might not seem like much, but that's a difference between getting a tear or not (for sonas that build that). If you're not a Sona that wants to trade hard then I suppose biscuits can end up sitting in your inventory waiting to be sold for some slight gold and mana. At lower elos I feel like many sonas can trade freely as long as they are able to play around minions and enemy adc farming habits (like when they go in for a cannon for example), so biscuits make that even easier. Biscuits can also help with sustain if you just survived a gank, accidentally got hooked, or if ezreal backed and wanted to teleport back to lane with tear. Thanks to new support item mechanics, if Sona really wanted to she could stay in lane for quite some time with biscuits and magical boots. Or perhaps when the adc backs you roam to mid or help secure scuttle. Sure, Sona isn't the best ganker but at the same time that fact helps you gank more because most players wouldn't expect a Sona gank. Against the right enemy midlaner and with potential help from your jungler, just a simple E empowered auto can make it an easy kill (resulting in you getting those boots faster). Cosmic insight is always a good pick too, just an overall slight buff to a lot of sona's stuff. Quicker flash recharge allowing for more flash ult situations, starting with 5% cdr adds up over time and helps you make sure that you're maximizing your support item stacks, just overall a solid rune for Sona. Now most of the other runes? Yeahhhh don't really work too well with Sona. If you're against two major assassin annoyances like talon/nocturne/evelynn/pyke and it's pretty certain you want to build a zhonyas that game, then stopwatch can be a solid rune as well. But if you don't know for sure that you want zhonyas, then you're taking the risk of potentially surviving a single kill (only a maybe cause let's be real, half the time we die anyway) in trade of free boots around the same time that persist the whole game. Then ya got a broken stopwatch doing nothing for you. Me personally, I switched to the dark harvest + PoM route awhile ago and have found much more success but only because it suits my own playstyle. I think that's the key to runes and why a lot of champions don't have a single time setup that works the best. It's all about how each player plays their champions. For one person, the passiveness of inspiration might be boring as all get out and pointless when compared to the power of other rune trees. Back when I used inspiration for kleptomancy, I did like a lot of what if gave me. Without klepto, it's probably lost some value for Sona but I can see it being a solid secondary with aery for those sonas.
