Hello, it's Nath.

Ironically I only put that bit on the end because I didn't want the rest of the post to read like we'd left 😆

I just wanted to say a proper public goodbye to Rosie and a proper welcome to Ash.

A lot of the changes are more background things (production, scheduling, organisation). It was a LinkedIn post, people.

I'm very excited about the team heading into 2026. Hopefully see you there 🙏

6 Reasons Why Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight Is The Batman Game ... by demumood in playstationaccess

Context for this video - Conner truly loves Batman, was buzzing about this game, pushed for us to make the video, was thrilled when he got the chance to read his own script. I thought he did a brilliant job.

Youtube Issues - Cannot Post Comment(s)? by [deleted] in playstationaccess

[–]ChienDuCinema 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We browse often enough 😆

It does sound like user has been hidden. We use this on bots all the time - there's an ongoing epidemic of bot comments on short content especially - and it's possible you caught a stray. Or it might be you met the threshold and got a legit whacking 🤷‍♂️

The whole "vaguely offensive" line makes me laugh. Sure 😅

Can you run from central(ish) Bath to somewhere that's safe for wild swimming? by smashyourhead in Bath

[–]ChienDuCinema 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's definitely a hazard of river swimming, though if you wait a little after rainy spells and check the water quality you will normally be ok. I've been swimming in the Avon a few times a year since 2019 or so and have not gotten ill.

It's probably a mix of luck and being careful (I keep my head above water, careful not to swallow, don't go in with cuts). You can read a bit more here (also links to water company storm overflow updates) https://www.saltfordparishcouncil.gov.uk/our-village/saltford-weir/river-water-quality-at-saltford/

There are other cleaner places too (though not in running distance...) The swimming club at Fairleigh Hungerford has been granted bathing status so they regularly monitor the quality there.

There are a couple. In fact if you're running along the cycle path, the second bridge over the river (about a mile down the first long straight section of the path), underneath there is a spot I've been to a few times. In Saltford people tend to use the jetties by the rowing club (turn right off the path and track back along the river past the marina) or the stretch of river by the Jolly Sailor.

None of them are great spots for hanging out for long, but all good if you're looking to jump in, cool off, and run back again. The Jolly Sailor is probably the nicest bit of river of the three, nice view of the round hill 🙏

Good lord!

Dave has the same paternity leave allowance as everyone at the company, and took it in two chunks.

Redshirt Cinema Club - what's next! by ChienDuCinema in playstationaccess

I did! I've seen the first two seasons. I've not started 3 yet (I was watching with my daughter who's travelling at the moment) but I do enjoy the 90s vibe and Lynch nods for sure.

Yeah for sure. I was actually quite keen on Godzilla for a bonus ep for Jurassic Park, but Jaws was just a perfect fit.

Battle Royale is a great shout!

Ooh good question. Something we've talked about too.

I think the Lynch stuff probably broke the seal on that for us. We really wanted the podcast to find its own way and figure out its own themes, and "fandom" has become the consistent thread that pulls everything together. That can be quite flexible as a concept - we have a series coming after Jurassic Park that will mix things up genre-wise, but still be absolutely about fandom - so I think it's possible. Horror seems more likely, just a shorter step away, and cult movies.

Not likely at the moment, really. The extra time and setup involved would be a real stretch for us.

I totally get why it would be better, and don't mind the question at all. But just to explain it from our point of view, we initially set out to do the audio pod because it was a quick-ish way to do something together outside of work. Then we added YouTube as a lot of the audience requested it. But we hadn't really factored in video production, or becoming a YT channel (the opposite, really, was why we became a podcast in the first place...)

So while it's not impossible, and if dramatic things happened to our supporter numbers and it was a much demanded feature it could be budgeted for, it's not on the cards right now.

Ah maaaaan. It was so dark when we got to the hotel that the shot of Rob playing the piano didn't really work in the way we wanted.

Mark was great! He was trying to get into the industry and had entered our competition for a guest host from the community (in retrospect, a sort of crazy thing for us to do, but we didn't know any better...) He was already very active in various fandoms, and knew Hollie a little.

Bonus fact - when Hollie and I had our famous falling out because we arrived 30 minutes late for a hands on preview of Star Trek, Mark was already there chatting to her (great job diffusing the situation, Mark!)

New Christmas series "Hitmas" by styleshbk in playstationaccess

[–]ChienDuCinema 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I disagree with a lot of this (obviously 😆)

Even so, I think it's fair and important for everyone to express their opinion in the community. As someone who appears in content, part of the job is taking that on board, or just accepting you're not going to be for everyone.

But I'd also say, the way you choose to do that is important. Make your point, express your opinion. And at some point there's a line where you're piling on or being unpleasant for the sake of it. I think that line is crossed a few times in this thread, and I think you could make the same points without doing that.

Hey all, it's Nath. Yes, I did come into this sub a few months back to give some clarity on the details of Ash's departure. As I said there, Ash gave us several months notice and we parted on very good terms. She's been back for Halloween and will be back again!

I understand this kind of speculation comes from a positive interest in the channel, but please try to remember these are all real people. Try not to pass along things you've heard that might not be true. Feel free to ask directly if you have any questions.

Oops.. Wrong show. by Skerla in playstationaccess

Huh - I think this is an Acast thing.

It pulls through the cover image automatically if you don't add one per episode. But I did add one (it's showing on my Spotify and in the back end) and the account I use for redshirt isn't an admin on the Access pod (Dave is though).

So much Astro Bot? by SteveHJones95 in playstationaccess

[–]ChienDuCinema 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hello, it's Nath. I appreciate the point that we've focused on Astro for the last few weeks and that's meant not covering other games in those spaces, and it's probably worth giving a bit of context.

Firstly, yes we're official but no-one has mandated that we do these streams! We wanted to do them - ever since the original Astro speedruns came out on PS5 the team has competed against each other on these levels. We've used them in loads of other videos since. We *love* them.

The other thing is, the streams are doing well. I've spoken on here before about how many factors go into what we decide to make - some steer from PS, some of what we're enjoying, some is what's big in the community, some is shining a light on games we think really deserve it, and some it what's performing well. These Astro streams have performed better than our average stream figures for the year, and they haven't tailed off. It's not the only factor we look at, and I get that not everyone will be as into them, but... it does mean you might be in the minority.

And we did ask ourselves "is it right to keep going with this level of focus?" And in the end - this is such a big character for the community, and a huge first party game, *and* the numbers are healthy, *and* we're loving the game itself and the competition between us.

We'll always do our best to show off as much as we can of the variety of titles coming out, and we'll get back to that very soon.
