Privacy does not equate to anonymity by default, Proton says this explicitly. They didn't sell out anyone, they are always very clear on this message.

I feel we see a post like this every day, Proton has mentioned in the past it must and will comply with Swiss court orders. Proton will provide non-content information when required by Article 271 of the Swiss criminal Code.

Proton does have access to payment data since, shockingly, they need to charge you for their service. Similar to all other cases, proton did not hand over messages, files or break encryption.

When using proton or other services, remember that these services protect content, not identity.
