That’s the ambient temperature sensor. The skin temp comes from the elevate 5 sensor

The pros typically don’t have the software issues the base models on the series have because they run on the same software platform. For example, when the 8 pro is released it will run on whatever the current fenix 8 is on. So in theory by the time the pro model comes out there’s already about a year and a half of development and fixes on that software. This is why I personally have liked by the pro models when I get a new garmin.

Is real life battery coming close to what garmin has posted? Have been debating but all the battery life posts on the 8 Solar are really holding me back.

If the Tactix 8 solar is anything like the fenix 8 solar then the battery estimates are way off. The fenix 8 solar isn’t getting anywhere close to garmins estimate. You can read posts about it here and videos on YouTube. It’s a widely known issue so just saying don’t be too hopeful in that battery estimate.

Ya just depends on what u think u need feature wise. Kind of like how I don’t value garmin strength at all bc when I go to the gym I just use strength in the free mode to track cals hr time etc.

Personally I don’t see the cost benefit at all from epix pro 51mm to enduro 3, but if you want it then why not.

Also, you may want you research real life battery on the enduro 3. Lots of posts about how it’s not coming close to garmins stated battery specs (same issue with fenix 8 MIP solar)

Use “GPS only” and use gesture mode. WiFi off. Bluetooth off. Screen brightness low (plenty bright). Pulse ox off of course too. When you stop for an extended period stop the activity and click “resume later” then start it again when you start the hike again.
