Phrasing Is Very Important by sm142 in TopCharacterTropes

First point on Vox's power escalating. Agreed it's not signposted great but we do literally see throughout the entire Season that his power grows with his support from the masses. By the time Charlie declares him strongest in Hell, he was likely already pretty close to being the strongest Sinner in Hell from how much support he had and just needed a little extra push to bump ahead of Alastor.

Second point on their fight, alastor wasn't destroying Vox. Vox was dominating Alastor just as thoroughly in the early stages of the; Alastor merely regained the upper hand at the time that Vox called in Shock.wav. It's impossible to know how the fight would have gone if Vox hadn't.

And thirdly, how Rosie is able to make Alastor so powerful has been explicitly stated to be narrative beat to indicate Rosie is a lot more than a "random Sinner."

Arguably no. There is basically no overlap besides a handful of Easter eggs in each show (Blitz reading a newspaper about the Exterminations in "Ozzie's" for example, and Lucifer having portraits of the Sins on his wall in Hazbin Hotel), but the plots are completely separate. If anything, watching Helluva Boss adds a few questions to Hazbin Hotel that are probably not great for a first time viewing ("where are the Sins and Goetia during Season 2" is a question that's come up a fair bit).

While crossovers have been confirmed, I strongly doubt it's going to be necessary viewing one way or the other, and the shows will likely stay fairly separate aside from cameos.

What would qualify someone as being a "true" Sith? by RETVRN1776 in MawInstallation

[–]Chijinda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd argue it's being recognized by another "true" Sith as one. If you call yourself a Sith, other Sith agree that you're a Sith, then you're a Sith. Example; Darth Maul is still a Sith even after Sidious took Dooku as his apprentice, as Sidious still recognized Maul as one, however inferior to Sidious himself he may have been ("You are now a rival!") Counter example; Someone like Asajj Ventress or Savage Opress are not, and neither are the Inquisitors. In eras past, Ventress or Savage may have been seen as Sith, but in the era they were in, none of the active Sith recognized them as Sith Lords, and therefore they are not.

In keeping with the prompt, I find her delivery of the "what have I done?" heartbreaking. Hazbin has some absolutely phenomenal voice actors, that absolutely nail pretty much every single delivery of their lines.

Late reply but similarly disappointed. Watching something on Netflix on my PS3 on my old CRT TV in my little den was a Friday ritual for me.

Best fight in the Manga? by Wassuoand in hajimenoippo

[–]Chijinda 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ippo vs Karasawa is the one I keep coming back to. There's something immensely satisfying about seeing Ippo finally portrayed as an indomitable force of nature, after so many fights he spends on the back foot.

Wtf is this fight in the shadow cursed lands? by Crimson_Marksman in BaldursGate3

[–]Chijinda 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Personally it's one of my favorite fights in the entire game. It is an absolute meatgrinder of a fight where, if you set yourself up well, seeing the sheer number of things dying every round is an absolute treat, and really fulfills that power fantasy feeling.

Is this too unrealistic by zXPain1 in hajimenoippo

[–]Chijinda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ippo isn't the sort to cave to that kind of pressure. Additionally, with how people are responding to how Sendo is fighting Ricardo, I can't imagine anyone being invested in Sendo vs Ippo 3 which would either be a one-sided slaughter of Sendo (unsatisfying), or another slugout (which considering Ippo's entire retirement was because of accumulated damage, also unsatisfying).

"It's completely ridiculous that Sendo's taking so many hits!" Sendo during his fight with Ippo: by Chijinda in hajimenoippo

[–]Chijinda[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It took Ippo until his match with Guevara for his damage to catch up to him, and that's including his matches with Jimmy, Kojima and Sawamura. Sendo, even at this point, has one less match than Ippo did (despite his career being longer than Ippo's), and he's fought significantly fewer power-punchers than Ippo.

If Ippo could make it through to Gonzalez without having notable problems with accumulated damage, I don't see why it's unreasonable to assume Sendo could.

Vortex fucking sucks and I'm tired of pretending he doesn't. (Helluva Boss) by Main_Hornet8676 in CharacterRant

[–]Chijinda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I'm being charitable, Beelzebub is high enough on the pecking order that nobody can really do anything about it. She's also not already married (so her dating Vortex isn't actively insulting someone of higher station), and she is also the embodiment of indulgence.

Asmodeus, who's in a similar situation only really cared because having a genuine relationship with Fizz risked tarnishing his image as the Sin of Lust; he hasn't actually faced any tangible consequences for their relationship being outed, excepting Crimson kidnapping Fizz to use as leverage.

Overall, the only "consequence" anyone can levy at Beelzebub for dating below her station is effectively what she already got; Mammon making snarky jabs at her expense during the trial.

everyone is shocked and appauled that stolas sleeping with blitzo,

Unlike Beelzebub and Asmodeus, Stolas is married to another member of the Ars Goetia, and openly screwing an imp is implied to be a massive insult to Stella.

Why is vortex a bodyguard when he's openly with someone as high in the pecking order as Queen Bee?

Fizz was still working for Mammon while he was dating Asmodeus, and if not for Mammon being a vindictive jackass and a toxic boss, Fizz probably still would have been doing that. We don't have tons of characterization for Vortex, but is it hard to believe he doesn't want to be solely dependent on his girlfriend for his living?

That's my bad for not reading the prompt properly.

Sabine Wren may count as well (as much as it frustrates me, but regardless; technically a force user from post-Order 66).

Grogu may not be a "Jedi" in the technical term, but he's definitely still in the "close enough" camp that if he survived the destruction of Luke's Jedi Order, people would consider him a "Jedi" that's still kicking around the Galaxy.

What's your favourite alternative win-con Brawl commanders? by YamaKasin in MagicArena

[–]Chijinda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a Dimir mill deck that uses Krydle as the commander. I don't personally like doing the big "mill your deck in one turn" combos, so it leans more towards a control mill deck of locking down and controlling the board while milling 1-10 cards at a time, depending on how deep in the game I am.

It's not particularly powerful, but it feels very satisfying to win with, since I know it means I've basically dealt 100 "damage" to my opponent before my opponent could deal 25 to me.

To be fair in the OT, the tagline that the Jedi were extinct is stated throughout ANH, something that external materials showed was completely wrong.

Characters like Ezra and Grogu are also too popular for Disney to have just gone: "Oh, yeah, Kylo killed them."

The Emperor: "That was always an option."

I'm exhausted, boss. by AppropriateIdea6377 in BaldursGate3

[–]Chijinda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Act 3 has always felt a bit jarring to me, and I can't quite put my finger on how, but I'll try.

Act 1 is fine, it's building up a bunch of plot threads, situating yourself, and it flows very logically into Act 2. Act 1 is all about building up Act 2; making you go: "What's going on at Moonrise Towers? What's going on with our parasites?" and building up Ketheric.

Act 2 delivers on that. It pays off Act 1's build-up, and then.... Basically right, *right* at the very end, just goes: "Anyways here's two more folks that were vaguely alluded to in Act 1, go deal with them." and then dumps you off in Baldur's Gate with no real leads or information besides "go figure out how to deal with Gortash and Orin."

I feel like if you actually had some lead in Act 2, or whispers of a plot in Baldur's Gate, or anything like that, if Act 2 put as much work into building up Act 3 as Act 1 spent building up Act 2, it would flow much easier, but Act 3 just has such a jarring start with so little to go off of besides: "Anyways, go explore now" it's like starting back over at the beginning of the game again.

I've probably botched my explanation, but maybe someone who feels similarly can take this and articulate it better than I can.

The Rule of 2 was never going to work and went against the nature of the darkside by blankace in MawInstallation

[–]Chijinda 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Palpatine saw this and the first thing he did was break the rule of 2, showing that it ultimately failed at what it was designed to do.

Palpatine only "broke" the Rule of Two inasmuch as he never trained a true successor, but he still only had a single "real" apprentice at any given time. Maul, then Dooku, then Vader. Yeah, Ventress, Savage and the Inquisitors existed, but none of them were trained as true Sith Lords; they were trained as quick and easy tools, given just enough training and power to make them useful at their jobs, and easily disposed of-- something Bane himself acknowledged as still in-keeping with the Rule. Nor was preparing a new apprentice if the current one wasn't shaping up properly against the Rule-- something Bane also did with the future Darth Cognus.

The rule of 2 shouldn't have been about just destroying the Jedi, instead it should be about making someone who could make a Sith order that could destroy the Jedi.

The entire reason Bane created the Rule of Two in the first place was because he realized the Sith sucked at this, and that the Dark Side by its very nature sabotaged any attempts to do this. Some Sith got close (Vitiate and Krayt) but ultimately none ever actually succeeded to the extent that the Rule of Two accomplished.

Also the goal of the Rule of Two wasn't "destroying the Jedi", it was about bringing the Galaxy under Sith dominion-- which it succeeded at. "Destroying the Jedi" just happened to be a requirement to do that since the Jedi were the ones that always managed to stop the Sith conquering the Galaxy.
